A Warm Welcoming

  The sound of the world around me snapped me out of my slumber. I opened my eyes, only to close them again.

  I could have sworn I just saw someone hovering over me. Though it was just most likely a remaining memory of my dream. Then my thoughts made me panic, what if it wasnt a dream? I opened my eyes wide, being met with a translucent pair or silver ones. 

  "Morning!" He spoke brightly.

  My mouth hung agape as I try to mentally take in what I was seeing. A boy that seemed to be my age, hovering over me, the light from my window illuminating him with an almost white glow. The rest just going straight through him. 

  Now, for a 'normal' teenage boy like me, I should find this cool or something weird like that. Like the kids who go to school, or the ones in the books I've read. But I guess I'm just not normal.

  I screamed sitting up and pushing myself back against my headboard as far as I could. "Wow, what a warm welcoming." He said, his smile fading ever so slightly with a sigh.

  "Honey, are you alright?" My mom asks, barging into the room. I looked at the boy then to her. "Uh.." I hesitated to say something. 

  Then came to the conclusion that she couldn't see him, so there was no use to argue.

  "Yeah, just a nightmare again." I say to which she frowns softly. "We really need to talk to your doctor about getting medication for those night terrors. They've just been getting worse.." She trails off before stoping and showing a smile before she left. 

  "Night terrors huh? I used to have those all the time when I was little." He says, to which I turn to face him again. "Who are you?-What are you?-Why are you here?!" I ask, bombarding him with questions making sure not to talk too loud so mom wouldn't come back in. 

  He smiled, obviously glad that I had asked. He got a bit closer. "My name is Rei! And I'm a ghost!" 

  He spoke while making motions with his hands, causing me to crack a smile. "My name is kage, while it is nice to meet you and all, why are you here?" I ask, still trying to rub the sleep from my eyes. 

  "Well ya see, I don't completely get it myself but, when I died I was assigned to you. I'm your ghost guardian!"
