Martha called the children down and had some sort of meeting. Linda and Cullen was there standing besides her looking happy. She talked about how important self-defense is and why one should learn to fight.

'Prevention is better than cure. Rather than being an ignorant person you have been lucky to become special. I would like to teach you how to secure your safety and use your skills in a useful manner' she explained standing before children. She had an outlook of a teacher. The children were used to it. Ever since they came here they had visited outside world only a couple of times. They were home schooled and they were rather smart and had more knowledge than of an average child at their age.

Children always liked to be heard how important and talented they are. Having listened to the same story of how they are unique, talented and useless to have contacts with others they were fully convinced that they were far beyond the average. Adults did it for their own reasons, still it was quite true as these children were ahead from normal children. They were taught more than they had to be learnt. But it wasn't the sole reason, they were born different, raised different and thought different. They were assured it's totally normal the way they react to things and constantly got praised for it. They had much more time to dedicate to things as there were the same people around them all day long. Almost everybody knew what others were thinking at a point. There was no need to discuss over the same matter over and over again. So they preferred to be alone (if George and Tom were considered as one). They were encouraged to continue their behavior. Yet at a point they were bored for not having anything new to engage their selves with.

And according to Martha's speech she was going to start teaching them martial arts to break the monotony in life. Sam wasn't an active child but he himself was excited for the new project which was heading towards him.

Linda used to say 'A life without challenges is worth nothing.'

Children were given a challenge to train their fighting skills. It was pleasurable to learn something new. Who ever won the contest in each month were praised for the whole month. Sam, Edith, Tom and George were the participants, Martha, Linda and Cullen judged the game. It was enjoyable. The winner almost got anything and everything he/she wanted for a whole month. Even without realizing the three losers were eagerly waiting for the next, after each match to claim the spot light.

Usually they weren't attention seekers. To be exact they were quite lazy. But this game somehow managed to motivate them and they became more competitive.

By the age of 9 Sam knew ten different kinds of martial arts.

It's hard to trace exactly when he opened up to Edith completely and became a talkative person among his newly found family. But he was fond of them by then. (Still for some reason his mother was the first on the list.)

Nearly around the age of nine Sam got to know that Linda and Cullen were expert hackers and the people he called as family was engaged in smuggling. It never bothered him though. Yet he grew a sudden interest in hacking. He already was a math genius and had learned so much more than recommended for his age. So that he badly wanted to check out this new field. They couldn't ignore Sam's enthusiasm on the subject, moreover they didn't wanted to do that. So eventually he started to learn hacking. He was almost addicted to it. For days and nights he kept on doing it. He was allowed to practice his talents on their projects. But still he was forced to train his physical skills. Even though he was not interested in it by now he too was quite good at it, after all nearly for three years it had been his passion.

He lost the contests over and over among them, at a point he was the worst fighter among them, though he was quite good at it as an individual. On the other hand his hacking skills were getting super impressive day by day. So that he didn't had an urge to train his skills in martial arts as others had by the time. This should have bothered the guardians. But miraculously it didn't. Sam was treated well ever since than the others. Martha gave special attention to him. In a way others weren't too happy about it.

But they were all used to it. Even without his own knowledge he had begun to like the attention he received and craved to be the spot light.

Others were taken on business (Sam knew it was not legal. But he didn't see anything bad about it. After all he was raised and protected by those people for years). He was at home taking after Linda and Cullen's hacking skills, which helped others in missions. He was never interested in what these missions were. He just learned to hack into some security system and took out data for them.

Time went by and on his 10th birthday a grand surprise was waiting for him that happened to turn his world upside down.
