As soon as I got home I ran to the nearest maid and asked them about my parents.

"Oh, they're in their office, but they're currently stacked with work at the moment so I suggest-"

Before she could finish I shoved my school items in her arm and ran up the long and steep stairs. I bolted down the hallways, maybe I wasn't doing this for them, maybe I was acting this way for me.

I think deep down I was more worried about all my work done to impress my parents would go to waste. I knew I was going to inherit the business, but I wanted to earn it, and not just take over because I was their only child.

I opened the doors, both of them were sitting across from each other, piles of paperwork sitting neatly next to their computers. They both looked at me, annoyed, but I didn't care.

"I need to speak to you regarding your dealings with the Ootori family."

Both of them seemed quite shocked that I even knew about what they were planning.

"I found out from Kyoya Ootori.." I clenched my fist, I was standing in front of my parents, I had their attention, but why was I hesitating?

It took me a second to figure out why, but I pushed away the thoughts and stepped closer to them.

"I don't think you should trust them."

My dad chuckled, I could tell he didn't think I should have an opinion on this. "Who are you to say such things?"

"Well Kyoya kept on asking me a lot of questions... and I-I just have a bad feeling."

My mother sighed and continued to work, while my dad stood up and towered over me. "You interrupted us because you had a bad feeling? Because he made you uncomfortable?"

I began to sweat even more than when I was surrounded by host club fan girls.

"Y-yes, he seems a little two faced, who knows what that could mean for his parents! What if they take your company?"

My dad pinched the bridge of his nose, he looked... annoyed. He looked annoyed with me.

"Why.. why don't you trust me?" I sniffled, feeling something in my throat, blocking me from speaking correctly, causing my voice to crack.

My dad took his hand away from his face and my mom stopped typing, I thought that they would sympathize with me, but they looked even more annoyed.

"We can't lose this deal just because you have a feeling." My mom explained and walked closer to me, on the outside she looked gentle, but I could hear in her voice that the sympathy was fake. She gave me a hug, but I didn't feel anything.

I forcefully pushed her away, causing her to slam into the table behind her, leading to some paperwork flying into the air.

"I get it! It's cause I'm not your daughter! I bet ever since you adopted me, you wished you were able to have kids! You have never once treated me like your daughter!" I cried out, my tears burned my skin, and my knees almost gave out.

I probably would've fallen if my dad hadn't grabbed my wrist with so much force, I could feel that it would bruise and slap me.

He slapped me.

It all happened so quickly, after he let go, I did fall and land on my knees.

This confirmed it, I was never a daughter to them.

If I was a daughter to them, they would've believed me.

If I was a daughter to them, they would've paid more attention to me growing up.
