Kate bush well was a 14 year old school girl who lived in the Exwick area of Exeter in Devon of the Uk. On the 15 November 1997, she had her throat slit in a field which was 300 yards from her home. Her father was the person to find her dead body in the field.
Timeline of that evening:
4:30pm-Kate had left Burrator Drive to walk her neighbours dog, Gemma. 4:50pm-Witnesses had seen Kate walking along Exwick lane and also saw a man in a pale coloured van which was parked in a layby nearby. 5:10-5:40pm- A "blood-soaked" man was seen running from the murderscene towards the Exwick Estate. 7:30pm- Kates body was found by her father in a devonshire field which her neck slashed by a large bladed knife. The reasoning to why her father and mother went looking for her was due that she had failed to return home and got worried. Gemma was found close to Kates dead body.

20 years later in 2017, many retired detectives re-examined key evidence and realised that the killer must have local knowledge of Exeter. Soon after these re-examined evidence, on the anniversary of kate's death police made a public appeal, publishing pictures of a kitchen knife that was seen to be like the knife used in the murder. Which soon started a forensic breakthrough, receiving 204 calls and messages identifying 10 new significant lines of inquiry who could be potential suspects but no arrests were made. A year later(2018) 10 new leads were generated in March and a fresh review was made.
My opinion:
After review of this case, it took a very long time to even think of my own opinion. There was no suspects names during this investigation and was never brought to attention that someone saw a blood soaked Male. Although her body was not in a position where it looked into a sexual assault or relating anything towards sexual need. I believe this was just an opportunistic murder and Kate was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I also think it was opportunistic murder due to the placing of her body, if the murder was purposely done then the murderer didn't care to who found the body or where Kate was being left or they got interrupted during the murder and ran into the Estate to get away. I believe the reason they ran to the Estate was that they lived there and wanted to return to the body before she was found but couldn't return due to her being found. But as said before i believe there was no reason for Kate to be murdered for a reason. I also believe due to the fact kate wasn't reported missing before and was found dead that the police didn't or couldn't do much more and felt that they didn't need too as she was already dead and didn't give away any evidence to who could do it or why.
