He raced through the forest, the two toddlers on his back resting peacefully, unaware of the danger they were in. His breath came in harsh gasps, as he sprinted through the trees. It was only a matter of time.
As the first snowflakes began to fall, he knew their time was up. His only hope was to get the children to safety before she found them. He could feel her terror and anguish in the sky above, but he didn't slow, not for a single second. The wolves wouldn't be far behind. If he didn't get them out now...he refused to think of it, instead focusing on reaching the clearing.

The boy on his back shifted, but the male took no notice. Slowing down would only give the witch more of a chance to win. He knew that she would be furious to find her daughter gone, but there was no other way. The girl may have been evils child, but she was too important to this beautiful land.

The male slowed down as he reached a lamppost, gently resting the girl on the ground, the cloak that rested on her shoulders an icy blue pool of fabric around her pale figure.
The boy slid of his back, stumbling a little as he hit the ground.
"Daddy!" He cried.
The male shushed him gently, knowing that any loud noises could be the end.
"Little one, I'm sorry, but I have to say goodbye." His eyes pricked with tears. "I am going to send you somewhere, and I will not see you for a long time. Just know that I love you."
The toddler, not truly understanding what his father meant, hummed lightly as he played with the soft snow beneath his feet.
Tears traced down the fathers cheeks, as the male gazed upon his beautiful son for the last time, knowing that he wouldn't understand what this moment meant for a long time.
"Sleep now." He smiled, kissing him.

The boy fell into a dreamless sleep easily, and the male knew it was time. He slowly breathed in, before gently blowing air in the children's faces. The girls pretty, earth brown ringlets fluttered in the sudden breeze, as they were pushed through the pines, to the other side.

And with one final tear, the great lion turned around, towards the despair of narnia, and didn't look back.

On the other side of the pines, the two toddlers slept peacefully on the wooden floor, not stirring even as an old man entered the room. He smiled down at the children, and, knowing exactly what to do, picked them up and took them to their rooms.
