Tamara and Melissa dragged my limp body as I continued to moan in complete insane pain. Alex followed a few feet behind. Gladious just kept popping into my head. His face, his grin, his blood, his jump. I heard Melissa whisper to Tamara,"We have to stop I don't know how much longer we can keep this up." I squinted to see Tamara nod. They set me down and told Alex. He nodded and they sat down beside me.
"Korey?" Melissa said gently.
I snapped my eyes fully open. Now fully aware of my surroundings I jumped up and spun around taking a good look at everything around me. We were in the forest and it seemed to still be night. There wasn't much of a difference from the other part of the forest. Same trees and leaves. Same everything. Tamara, Melissa and Alex sat warily on the ground. I backed away as I saw Alex. My stomach began to churn. I turned away and vomited. As I recovered I looked up. Something made me freeze. A shadow, just a glare in the distance. My eyes widened as Gladious stepped out dripping in blood. I screamed and tore my clothes more than they already were torn. I fell to my knees. Tamara and Melissa ran to me.
"Kill me." I whispered. I shouldered them off and ran to Alex. "Kill me!" I screamed at him. He looked me strait in the eyes and for a moment I saw him flinch. I saw a gear in his mind turn. An old rusty fear had once again began to turn and the old him had begun to return. But as quickly as it had appeared it disappeared.
"Your time will come Korey." He mumbled and continued to walk towards the building which was faintly visible in the distance.
"Korey what happened to you? What did he do?" Tamara asked.
"He let me live. So I let him."
"Then why does he hate you?"
"You know those scars on his face?"
She nodded.
"I did that to him."
We continue to walk in silence. I was too numb to even continue reacting to seeing Gladious again. We arrived once again at the building right as the ship came in dropping off the Cantop teens. I had been gone for two days. Alex glanced at his watch. He turned to us.
"Its 5:30 in the morning. We've been gone for two days. That means at 8:30 you all have to be at the breakfast hall. I suggest you get as much rest as possible."
And with that he walked away. We walked back to our room where our new roommate was unpacking. She greeted Tamara and Melissa as they came in. I walked in last. She began to greet me but paused when she saw my appearance. I glared up at her.
"I wouldn't talk to her right now." Tamara said.
Jolie hesitantly retracted her hand which had been outstretched offering a handshake.
"Is everything okay?" She asked in a small voice.
Nobody answered. Tamara and Melissa began to change and get into their beds.
"You sleeping Korey?" Tamara asked sleepily.
"You really should." Melissa added.
"I don't sleep." I replied.
"Suit yourself."
I say down in my bed and played with the bracelet Gladious had given me. My mind swam with questions and thoughts of bloody pale hands reaching down to choke me.
"Are you okay?" A small voice asked.
I looked up to see Jolie standing in front of me staring at me. I stood up slowly and she backed away. I walked over to my dresser and grabbed new clothes. A black t shirt and jeans, same as always.
"Tell them I went for a walk."
"I'm not sure you should-" she began but her voice was muted by the door as I stepped out of the bedroom. I quickly peeled off my old clothes and put in the new ones. Silence filled the air creeping in and out corners. I walked to the right hearing voices coming from that direction.
"You've been gone all night with her! I want to know what you've been doing!" A booming voice commanded.
"I was just taking a walk sir. I needed fresh air." A slightly familiar voice replied.
"She's dangerous to us. You know how many people she's killed." The first voice continued. "Finn will not be pleased if she escapes. He wanted to meet her."
"She won't. Shes so devastated by the boy's death she won't do anything stupid."
"Good. I'm proud of you Alex."
I stumbled backwards but the voices continued.
"Thank you General Kilo."
No. No no no no! I felt dizzy. The world seemed to spin around me. He was here in this building in the room right next to me. I could kill him right now. He would never suspect it. As my head straitened out I looked up at the clock on the wall. It read 6:30. I spun around on my heels and ran in the opposite direction. I couldn't kill him now, I thought. I needed more time. I ran the way I came from. As I turned the corner I ran into someone. A hand clamped over my mouth while the other grabbed my wrist and pulled me into another room. They spun me around so I was facing them. Alex.
