a fanboy christmas/quarantine specialJeongin rubbed his eyes, trying his best to stay awake as he stared at the clock that sat on his bedside table which read 2am. He could feel sleep creeping up on him as he hid under the warmth of his blanket but he quickly tried to evade it, sitting up and stretching lightly, his phone still tightly held in his hand.
With a sigh, he continued staring at the clock, watching as each minute turned into an hour and eventually, it was 3:45am and yet, he hadn't received a single phone call from his husband no matter how many times he disconnected and reconnected with his wifi connection (since he thought that it was probably just a simple connection error that lead to him having zero notifications from the model).
Pouting, he looked at the shiny silver bands on his fingers and decided to give him a call himself and as he listened to the dial tone, he felt an overwhelming loneliness embracing him and slowly taking away the warmth he felt from his blankets and comfy sweater (that was Hyunjins'). By the time he called, Jeongin was sure that it was a good time for Hyunjin seeing as how it would've been morning in Los Angeles which meant that the model would have most likely been awake and free from any schedules but, when no one responded, Jeongin felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach, wrapping the blanket around himself tighter as he yearned for some form of warmth.
He put his phone down and let himself fall back onto the bed. He stared blankly at the ceiling, wondering what Hyunjin had been doing the past few days that he couldn't so much as call him or leave him a proper message that wasn't just a few words long.
Soon enough, the ceiling seemed to be a blur to Jeongin as tears welled in his eyes and when he blinked, they fell, steadily staining his pillowcase with his sadness.
He thought that being married to his idol and the love of his life would've been a dream come true. In fact, he thought that it would be like those fairytales where they all lived happily ever after with nothing but beautifully written pastel pages of hope and love laid out for them. He thought that that was what his future would be and that, since he was married to someone he admired so much and who admired him as well, their life would be like those stories he had read when he was younger.
But, that was far from his current reality.
After they got married, they enjoyed their honeymoon and spent weeks together with their friends, laughing and smiling as though there were no tomorrow and, if Jeongin had known that sooner, he would've appreciated those moments more because right after those moments that felt as though they were taken straight from a film, Hyunjin said that his company wanted to send him for some gigs in Los Angeles which was a whole 12 hours and 26 minutes away from Seoul.
Twelve hours didn't seem like much to Jeongin then - hell, he even encouraged Hyunjin to take the job since, as his fanboy, he wanted Hyunjin to gain even more success even if that meant he had to take a short trip elsewhere and leave him behind.
Twelve hours didn't seem like it meant that much but when the world went into a lockdown, those twelve hours suddenly seemed as though it put an unmeasurable amount of distance between them.
And Jeongin tried his best to make up for that distance, constantly posting about him on his fan account, texting him and calling him but as time went on, Hyunjin seemed even further out of his reach, the distance gradually getting bigger and bigger until now, all Jeongin felt was fear that he would be left alone by the person he loved.
Once the tears started falling, they showed no signs of stopping, his chest tightening with every breath he took as his phone remained silent, not a single notification popping up on his screen.
