"what's your favorite color?" She jumps and looks up at me. Before she can back up I grab her waist to hold her in place. I know she's scared, I can see it in her eyes. "I won't hurt you. Just don't back up or run from me ok?" I can see the in decision in her eyes. "Please?" She finally nods and I let her go, but stay in the same spot. "Lets make a deal. We have 10 minutes before school starts. In that time you let your guard down and we talk. If you see that you're comfortable talking with me, we be friends. Nothing more and nothing less. If you still aren't comfortable talking to me, I'll leave you alone. And I don't lie."

She looks at me with curiosity. "What if I lie and say I don't because I'm scared but I really do?" She looks sad and I wish I could erase that look on her face.
