Katherine returns to Mystic Falls as she shakes things up for Dylan. As Dylan confronts Katherine about the truth of her feelings, Katherine expresses her true feelings making Dylan heartbroken as she's waited a long time for Katherine only for Katherine to say she's never loved her. Dylan distracts herself from Katherine by figuring out why the Gilbert device worked on Tyler Lockwood. When Dylan finds out that werewolves are true, she befriends a werewolf against her better judgment, but when that werewolf betrays her trust by exposing her secret to Sheriff Forbes, Sheriff Forbes tries to kill her and Stefan, but Caroline and Elena save them. Dylan finds out that a famous hybrid named Klaus is after Elena wanting to sacrifice her, but Dylan and Stefan try to find a way to prevent that from happening.
