Hidden Fangs

Humanity is at war with a new species, the Vampires. Undead Bloodsuckers that want to enslave humanity. The vampires look human for the most part, except for when they use vampiric powers like their blood magic or when the lose control of their bloodlust. Whenever that happens, their eyes turn red and their canines turn into sharp fangs, and they grow blood red horns out the tops of their heads, a sentiment to their magic. Normally, they would burn in the sun, but some of the stronger vampires have learned blood magic and can make jewelry that protects them from the sunlight. The only way to kill them, silver through the heart, or sunlight.
Normally vampires would use their blood magic to turn a human into a vampire after forcing the human to drink vampire blood, but every once in a while, a human that is drained of blood will turn into a vampire instead of dying. The first way is painful, but the second way, puts you through a unimaginable pain that makes you wish you had died.

Melissa, a 17 year old who grew up on the streets since she was 12, was attacked by a vampire while trying to save her best friend, Sebastian.
