1) A wide vocabulary.

3) Paragraph spacing.
4) If you're making an OC story, don't make them a fucking mary sue.
5) Also don't butcher the book by focusing every direction of the book on the MC alone. Give side characters some spotlight and make way for some world-building. It enhances the plot.
6) Learn to write character personalities.
7) I repeat, learn to write character personalities.
8) I'm serious here. Character. Personality. Build relationships between the MC and the side characters on levels of trust. Don't make female characters just jump at the MC, claiming "lOvE aT fIrSt sigHt!" No. That also makes the MC a mary sue.
