My time with Draco almost made me forget who I've seen him as for the past 6 years. He treated me nothing like he did everyone else, and I couldn't help but wonder why.
The boy who made me laugh, who complimented me, he was Draco. The boy I've seen otherwise was Malfoy. What made Malfoy want to be Draco with me even though we've never spoken before?
When I was with Draco my pit of insecurity faded into nothing, but it came flooding back when I saw Cedric standing outside of the door waiting for me. Draco must've noticed my immediate mood change, because he placed his hand on my wrist to avoid the touch of intimacy, but provide the touch of comfort.
"You don't have to go with him." He said looking into my eyes.
"It's okay. I'm not worried about him I just..have my own problems you could say. But hey I have to deal with them at some point. I'll see you Draco." I flashed him a smile and he sent one back, only his seemed slightly faked as I walked over to Cedric. Cedric leaned in to kiss me, but I turned my head only letting him kiss my cheek.
"Okay I can't keep doing this May, come talk to me." He pulled me into a blind spot corner in the hallway to talk. "Have I done something? Why do you shiver under my touch? Has someone else done something to you?" He spat out so many assumptions in the form of questions that I could tell he hasn't stopped thinking about this, and I did feel guilty. "May, please talk to me."
"Everywhere we go girls gawk at you. Girls with curves and perfect hair and perfect-" Cedric cut me off by pressing his thumb against my lips.
He kissed my nose. "You have perfect curves."
He kissed my forehead. "You have perfect hair." He kissed my cheek. "You have a perfect smile." He kissed my jawline. "And you have a perfect soul."He finally pressed his lips against mine. "I will never look at a girl the way I look at you, because now that I've seen and tasted perfection I will never see the same. You are perfect May, and every imperfection you see is another reason I adore you. Never question that." This. This was exactly what I needed. Cedric suddenly made me feel wanted and special. It was perfect again.
I made it through the classes leading up to potions, which I had with Cedric. Only now, my mind couldn't help but stir up excitement to see Draco again as well. I entered with Cedric, but today Slughorn made him sit on a stool by his desk. Suddenly my eyes focused in on Draco, who sat alone, but with a bag on the stool next to him as if he was saving someone's place. However, I attempted anyways.
"Is this seat taken?" His eyes shot up at me and he looked confused, but his lips slowly formed a smile as he moved the bag to the ground under the desk.
"Not anymore it's not." He motioned to the now empty stool. I took the seat, and Pansy Parkinson walked into the room and shot me a look that could kill. That must have been her seat he was saving, but oh well, he clearly would've rather sat next to me.
"Today class, you will be making your own Amortentia potion." Spoke Slughorn. "You will utilize the person next to you to help brew the potion, and share with either me or
Mr. Diggory what you smell when one of us comes by." Cedric shot me a wink from his stool."Shall we get started then?" I asked Draco, but he seemed nervous.
"Sure, why don't you start." I listened and began to add in ingredients as he read them off. I had added all of the ingredients, and began to stir clockwise, when I felt a presence behind me rest his hand on mine and press their lips onto my ear.
"Stir counter-clockwise darling." Cedric. I smiled as he kissed my cheek.
"Would you piss off now Diggory?" Scoffed Malfoy. Seriously? Just as he began to prove himself a decent human being to you.
"Draco!" I said turning my head to him.
"And what if I don't Malfoy? Are you going to tell your father?" Cedric retaliated, also not making me very happy.
"Cedric!" Why do boys always do this?
"Trust me my father won't be hearing about this. He would pull me out of school for what I'll do to you." Why could he only be kind around me? I just wished he would be Draco to everyone else just as he is to me. I hated Malfoy.
"That's enough Draco!" He scoffed at me and rolled his eyes as he got up and left the classroom. Just like that, he left. I looked over to Cedric disappointed.
"What the bloke started it?!" He said motioning towards the door.
"Yes and you continued it."
"I'm sorry love." He grabbed my chin, but I pulled away. "Come on darling, what do you smell?" I ignored his question. "I am still your supervisor right now love, so tell me. What do you smell?"
"Cedar wood, honey, and crisp apple." I said quietly.
"Perfect darling." Cedric grinned to himself knowing that's exactly what he smells like. However, he wouldn't have such a big grin if he knew I also smelled mint, green apple, and cologne.
Draco's Pov
I wanted to punch his teeth out. The way he touched her made my skin crawl, and the way she enjoyed it made me lose my temper. When I scoffed at her I saw her pull away from my direction.
I ruined it, and I couldn't be in that room anymore knowing that. I left and went to the bathroom where I once again found myself splashing cold water on my face. Overwhelming my senses with the cold on my burning hot angered face calmed me down, but not as much as a simple touch on the arm from her would.
I knew I had set myself back in her eyes by lashing out at Cedric. She would be angry with me when I saw her again, but right now that didn't matter to me as long as I did see her again. I don't mind if she scolds me, that just means she's still okay with speaking to me.
Part of me was just greatful I left the classroom before I was asked what I smelled, because as the steam from the cauldron ran under my nose I smelled vanilla, peach tea, and daisies. It was her.
