When I woke up in the morning, things were different. Those first 60 seconds trippled.
As I looked at Draco, with his bed hair hanging down over his eyes, and his lips parted, I felt at peace. Not just a momentary bliss, but real peace, and this time it even lasted after he woke up."Good morning darling." He brushed a piece of hair behind my ear as he admired me, just as I did him.
"Good morning Draco." He was surprised. When he looked into my eyes I must have seemed different. I didn't seem so heartbroken.
He took advantage of this and pulled me into a kiss. The 180 seconds grew, and grew, morning by morning, until it was simply how I felt.
Cedrics memory didn't make me tear up, but smile. He was so good to me, and that now made my heart soar instead of sink. I was so lucky to know him, and if guardian angels were real, he was going to be mine.
I walked out to the black lake right before sunrise, and said the goodbye that I never managed out of myself. As I sat on mine and Cedrics picnic blanket, I stared off into the water, and saw his reflection in the lake. I'd had many visions, dreams, or even hallucinations of Cedric, but this one seemed so real.
I couldn't help but turn around to check, but he wasn't there. I sighed in disappointment, even though it was only a single digit percentage of me that expected to see him standing there.
As I turned to look back out at the water, I moved all of my hair to one side, revealing my neck, when a lady bug landed on me.
~
He played with my hair as I laid on his lap reading a book. A lady bug landed on my nose, and it made me laugh.
"What's so funny?" He smiled lifting my chin to look at him upside down, which only made me laugh harder. "If I ever die, I wanna come back as a lady bug." He said faking a look that said 'I'm deep in thought.'
"Who in their right mind would want to come back as a lady bug?" I laughed sitting up and leaning on both my hands while now facing him upright.
"Think about it. They're small, devishly handsome, you aren't scared when they touch you, and I would desperately want to be able to still touch you." He fingers slid down my jawline, then his thumb tugged at my bottom lip. "I never want you to tremble under my touch, and you wouldn't if I were a ladybug." He smiled, staring directly at your lips.
"So you want to come back as an insect who's sole purpose is to feed spiders, just so you can still touch me?" I laughed at him, but his stare didn't break from me.
"I would do anything for you love." My laughing calmed as I realized how serious he looked. Cedric lightly tugged my chin, and pulled me into a kiss. "Anything."
~
I smiled to yourself, and shut your eyes, squeezing out a tear.
"God I miss you Ced." I cried out, knowing he was listening. "I should've let you so goodbye, and I'm so sorry. I loved you so much Ced, and I know that you and Draco weren't bestfriends, but he's taken care of me. Draco loves me Cedric, and I know that's all you would want for me. I will never forget you Cedric Diggory, and my love will never fade." For a minute I felt stupid speaking to my deceased boyfriend only because a ladybug sat on my shoulder, but when a gust of wind swept through me, a feeling overwhelmed my body.
I inhaled, and exhaled with the wind, receiving what he was trying to tell me. It was okay. The ladybug crawled up my jawline, and then landed on my nose. I looked into its eyes, and as it spread its wings, and flew off into the gust of wind, I was okay.
I made it back up to my room, and caught Draco right before he woke up. He started to open his eyes once he heard the door click shut, and propped himself up on his elbows while rubbing his eyes.
"Where did you go?" He asked softly.
"Just talking to an old friend." I smiled before walking over to the bed, and getting on top of the man who now had my heart to himself. We both smiled into the kiss, and could feel each other's grins. "I'm yours Draco Malfoy." I rested my head against his as both of our breaths heaved.
"I love you May." He grabbed the back of my head and pulled me into another kiss, this one lasting longer.
"I'm ready." I said, stroking his hair staring into his eyes, which were filled with passion. "I'm ready to go back." I smiled, and kissed his lips once more.
"Then lead the way darling." He smirked.
~
As I sat in DADA, my mind didn't wander to the doorframe all but one time. I was determined to listen to the lesson, at least it was something other than Cedric to think about.
Draco left his hand rested on my thigh, and that would also drive my mind to much more dangerous places occasionally.
"I'm proud of you." Draco leaned over and whispered into my ear, kissing my neck as he parted himself back. I only looked at him and smiled sincerely.
When we walked into potions, I noticed that Slughorns mini memorial to Cedric had still been going.
"Professor, do you mind?" I motioned you the stool.
"Not at all dear." He smiled, and reached towards the bouquet behind him pulling out a flower. He handed one to me, and I laid it on the stool.
Draco was quick to greet me with a kiss back at the table after he watched you commit such a huge step. A week ago this class room quite literally made me cry, but now all things that reminded me of Cedric only gave me the opposite effect of a week ago. It gave me peace.
