Draco and I parted ways after the lake to change in to dry clothes before our first class. As I walked into the common room in new clothes, Harry sat on the couch with Ron.
"May! You never came back last night, where were you?" Ron questioned me. Of course.
"I was stargazing, fell asleep." Harry and Ron gave each other a look. "What's so funny?"
"You're a pitiful liar." Harry stated still laughing. "Where were you?"
"Do you remember the constellation we chose Harry?" I walked closer to him. "Well that's where I was."
I left him that clue and walked out of the room. Harry was smart, he would put two and two together. I was meeting with my star crossed lover.
I stepped in to DADA and saw Draco eagerly twitching his quill in his hand, I smiled and walked over to him.
"Mind if I sit here?" I asked as if he was a stranger I hadn't just spent the night with in the astronomy tower.
"Do what you please." He said coldly, but then winking at me. To everyone else I probably looked like an idiot smiling even though Draco was acting seemingly rude from their perspective.
As Professor Moody spoke I took notes, but as I thought about Cedrics face as I broke things off, I pressed down harder against the paper until my quill broke.
"Shit." I muttered so quietly even I could barely hear myself, but Draco did. He subtly stopped taking notes and dropped his quill on my paper so lightly it slid off his hand. I smiled at him as he smirked, and continued your note taking.
At the end of the lesson I passed Draco a paper. It was all the notes I took rewritten with a note at the bottom.
Soon, xo
That was all he needed. A reminder that soon I would be his. He reached to hold my hand, but class was dismissed. My eyes noticed Cedric waiting on me as usual, and I shot Draco an apologetic look as I got up to meet with him.
I let Cedric greet me with a kiss on the cheek, I didn't wanna be inconsiderate of Draco sitting right there when there was no doubt he was staring. I held onto Cedrics arm and walked away, imagining what poor Draco must be feeling right now.
"Are you okay? You seem upset." Asked Cedric, pulling me to the side and stopping our steps.
"I'm fine." Cedric eyed me once more, his stare breaking me down. "Okay fine. I'm scared." I said, this time careful to be more convincing.
"Scared of what darling?" He held my waist and pulled me closer, and if he felt I wanted to feel protected.
"I'm scared for you. It's the last challenge, and I highly doubt it'll be anything but safe Cedric." To be fair, I wasn't completely lying. Just because Cedric isn't the one for me doesn't mean I don't care for him, or even love him, because I did. He just wasn't Draco, it's nothing personal. "I don't want to lose you to these bloody games Ced."
I still wasn't lying. I felt a stare, I narrowed my eyes past Cedric and saw Draco walking with his head down, but it was clear he was looking.
"May, I will be safe. I'll always come back to you. Always." I started to remember how easy it was to fall for Cedric. His eyes were caring, and his touch was gentle. He had a way with words that made me want to stay in his arms all day. "Come on." He lifted my chin to look up at him. "Let's get to class."
Draco's Pov
My fists turned white and I saw stars. He touched her waist where her legs wrapped around me. When she held his arm I saw flash backs of her squeezing mine to cope with the pleasure. I walked to the next class which of course I had to sit through watching Cedric touching all over her.
As I walked the halls I saw them pulled over against the wall. His hands wrapped around her waist, and they looked deep in conversation. God I just hoped she was in as much pain as I was and she was ending it right there and now, but she looked caring.
I took my seat and was careful to leave the one next to me empty in case a miracle happened and May walked in alone, but she didn't. He had his arms wrapped around her waist from the back as he walked from behind her.
"Cedric, I need you up here today. Sorry Miss Kingsley." Said Professor Slughorn. Thank God. Cedric released his grip, finally, and she took her seat next to me.
"I see you're still together." I muttered, not looking at her. To everyone else it wasn't even apparent we were engaging in conversation.
"Remember what I said Draco. Soon." She whispered also not looking at me.
"Not soon enough." I said looking down at my papers and sketching as I tuned her out. She then stopped caring about her surroundings and faced me.
"What does that mean?" She asked, but I ignored her. I didn't mean to be hostile, I knew she had no choice, but it was just how I responded. She scoffed at me and faced the teacher. She was definitely pissed.
I watched Cedric tilt his head at her and she simply nodded. What were they doing? It was like they were speaking with their eyes, but what were the speaking of? When the class dismissed she immediately went to Cedric and left.
Not looking back at me apologetic or even looking at me at all. She left without giving me a second thought. Surely this wouldn't last long right? She couldn't actually be mad at me? At least this next class, Diggory wouldn't be in my way of finding out.
