"Thank you all for coming back," Zephyr said as he led everyone to the back of his virtual reality shop. "I'm working on another project, and I would love for you all to be my beta testers."
"It's not a problem," Saber remarked. "We got dressy, as you requested, courtesy of Scarlett."
Scarlett wiggled her fingers in greeting and he gasped in astonishment.
"You made these splendid garments yourself?" When she nodded proudly, he stared in awe. "You are truly a master. I'm honored that you worked this hard for my meager project."
"Okay, Romeo," Conner growled. "Let's get on with it."
Zephyr cleared his throat and guided them to a display case that contained several pairs of stylish goggles.
"This is my upgraded VR headset, personalized for the user's immersion and enjoyment," he announced, equipping everyone with a pair. "Today, they're programmed to project a certain setting, but everything else is under your complete control."
Everyone placed on their goggles and flipped the switch.
"Wow! This is even better than last time," Desiree remarked of the improved scenery.
"You're the real master here," Scarlett added.
"It's aight," Conner grumbled.
"I have a special effects room right over here," Zephyr informed, leading them over. "These have yet to be incorporated into the goggles, but they're a promised feature for release day."
"Special effects, huh?" Divya scoffed as she entered the room. Once he enclosed them, she glanced at Richard and smirked. "I've always wanted to control gravity."
As she raised her hand, Richard slowly began to rise into the air.
"Whoa! What the hell is going on?" he cried, flailing his arms.
Divya grinned with wide-eyed astonishment.
"No way!" Wally barked. "I wanna fly!"
"I'm a water bender!" Zamora announced, manipulating a nearby pond.
"I'm an earth bender!" Desiree replied, flowers sprouting wherever she willed.
Suddenly, there was a roar of thunder following a bolt of lightning striking Kaldur.
"What the hell?!" Wally screamed.
"Whoops," Saber smirked coyly.
Once Kaldur recovered, he pointed his finger, and the lightning struck her back.
"Fight! Fight! Fight!" everyone chanted.
Saber ran as Kaldur tried to strike her again. Conner watched in amusement before he glanced at Scarlett, who was staring at her hands. There was an ethereal glow all over her skin, and her eyes appeared to smolder.
"What kind of power do you want?" he asked as he approached.
For a moment, she didn't answer. Then, she closed her hands into tight fists.
"The power of faith," she replied.
He blinked in confusion before realizing she was serious.
"I want to believe that the things I want in life, and the choices I make, are right for me. That everything's going to work out."
"Scarlett, what are you talking about?" he asked. "Your choices always work out, don't they? For as long as I've known you, everything you've ever done has been wildly successful. And as far as I can see . . . you have everything. I could be wrong, but is there really something more you want?"
