Saber sat on the bench, twiddling her thumbs in the gentle breeze and mild sun. Kaldur, Wally and Conner were down by the water, getting things ready for the big trip to Atlantis. It was initially a trip for her and Kaldur alone, back when he assumed she was going to accept to be his. To make things less awkward, Scarlett, Desiree and company were tagging along.
"Damn, Ariel," Scarlett purred as she checked herself out in a compact mirror. "You really don't know how lucky you are."
"Are you nervous?" Desiree asked Saber, grabbing her hand in support. "You're going to meet Kaldur's parents."
"Terrified," she admitted breathlessly. "Especially because he already told him that I'm his girlfriend. How embarrassing."
"Well, just be the most wonderful pretend girlfriend you can be," Scarlett said, throwing an arm around her. "You're a kickass lady. They're gonna love you."
Saber nodded her head, calming her nerves and reminding herself that she was more excited than nervous. What would his people be like? What would his home be like? Would his parents actually approve of her?
Why did she care? This wasn't a valid relationship, let alone a marriage proposal.
"Everything's ready!" Wally called. The three of them exchanged a look and went to meet the boys on the shore.
"The path to Atlantis is in the center of the triangle," Kaldur announced.
"T-the triangle?" Saber repeated.
"The triangle?" Desiree parroted.
"The Bermuda Triangle?" Scarlett gawked.
"Yes. It's top secret. The entry point isn't in the open, but it's pretty easy to stumble upon by accident."
"And never return from," Scarlett murmured to Saber.
"Stop it, Scarlett," she giggled.
Kaldur distributed devices to everyone that fit around their necks, externally attaching to their airways.
"Everyone's artificial gills work?" Kaldur asked. "We're gonna have to do a little diving."
"Oooh, mermaid princess dreams really being realized today," Scarlett remarked.
"Alright, onto the boat you go," Conner growled, hoisting her on.
"Not very prince-like, Eric," she hissed as she stumbled to her seat.
Everyone boarded, and after a few more final inspections, they set sail to their coordinates. The ride out was full of chatter, but Saber was absorbed in her own tranquil thoughts. Ideas for upcoming shows, plans for new horizons, the possibility of a relationship--
She glanced over to the steer, where Kaldur and Conner were making merry and felt her heart skip. The whole affair at the theatre seemed to have humbled him, because he'd been a much calmer, timid person since then. She was relieved, considering she would never dream of being with him if he were that crazy all the time.
Before long, the boat slowed to a stop, and the ladies glanced around, seeing nothing but ocean and sky on all sides.
"This isn't what I was expecting," Saber laughed awkwardly.
"The city is underwater," Wally drawled.
"Obviously. That isn't what I meant," she huffed. "Where's the storm clouds and raging waters? Or is that all part of the lore as well?"
"Yeah, none of that is true," Kaldur said. The Triangle doesn't exist. That's the story."
Everyone nodded their heads and began to change into their diving gear. A large capsule came bobbing to the surface of the water, and Kaldur placed everyone's luggage inside. It sealed up tight and sunk back into the murky depths.
