When everyone returned to the manor, they retired to their own rooms to sort out their belongings. It didn't take the men long, so they migrated to the game room to entertain themselves. Kaldur remained in his room to finish Lost Paradise, somehow managing to keep his possession of the plays secret from the others. Although Saber hadn't stipulated he conceal the scripts from anyone, he felt protective of them - and a little superior from being the sole witness to them.
Divya went to join the boys in the game room, while Saber resigned herself to the library on the ground floor, which she had discovered during some secret sleuthing about the mansion. Desiree became entangled with her clients, Zane worked on jewelry patterns and Scarlett got busy with her fashion designs.
Zain, as usual, found himself in the kitchen presenting his recipe cards to Alfred, who regarded them with great pleasure. The night went by and made way for an exuberant morning. Or rather, afternoon, since everyone slept in.
"Pool day! Pool day!" Wally cried at the top of his lungs, running up and down the hallway like a madman.
His exclamations jarred the whole household, everyone waking irascibly. The day was quite beautiful and the outside, inviting as ever. Everyone took their showers, donned their swimwear, and headed downstairs. The gawking was obvious, everyone hoping to finally glimpse soft curves and toned, hardened limbs.
No one saw anything, since they'd all concealed themselves beforehand.
"It's unexpectedly cold outside," Zain remarked from the kitchen, where he was helping Alfred and Ezio prepare the day's menu.
"Not to worry, though," Alfred reassured. "Master Bruce's pool is equipped with temperature regulation, and I've already warmed it up for you."
"You're amazing, Mr. Pennyworth," Scarlett gushed. "Thank you for all your hard work!"
"Please take this to the backyard, Ezio," Zain called, handing off a rack of savory kebabs to the young steward.
"Right away!" he quipped, rushing the platter outside, followed by hungry eyes.
"You're all in for a special treat," announced Zain. "In the meantime, the water awaits you!"
They promptly rushed outside. However, once their feet hit the patio, they all stopped in their tracks.
Unexpectedly cold was an understatement.
"I knew this was a bad idea," Zane chattered, an unpleasant shiver skating up her bare legs.
"I doubt heated pool water is going to make this any more enjoyable," snarled Divya.
"Oh, suck it up, ladies," Conner smirked, peeling off his t-shirt to reveal his taut chest and abs.
Scarlett drank in the sight with reckless abandon. She couldn't avert her eyes quick enough when he caught her staring. He continued to show off by running and cannon balling into the pool, splashing everyone's ankles. When he emerged, all smiles and dripping wetness, everyone glared at him.
"Come on, buzzkills. Lose the clothes and join me! The water's fantastic!"
"Welp! This is what we came for!" Wally said, shredding his clothes in a flash and replicating Conner's actions, his wave not nearly as impressive.
"You guys are such brutes," Richard huffed, removing his covering to reveal European cut speedos. The ladies cringed while the men failed to contain their laughter.
Ignoring them all, he descended into the water by the stairs, gliding into the gentle currents like a swan.
Kaldur was the last to remove his shirt, and the ladies paused to admire the thick, black, tribal-like markings that snaked over his back and down his arms. He smiled through all the attention, rubbing the back of his neck endearingly.
Conner suddenly cleared his throat, loud and obnoxiously, drawing everyone's attention.
"Your turn, ladies."
Without further delay, they disrobed at once.
Desiree looked like a teenaged wet dream in her bikini, with pinned bangs and two braided pigtails.
Zane had opted for a frilly, cream-colored string bikini accented with blue beading. She pulled her hair into a simple high ponytail and sank into the pool with the other guys.
Scarlett was smoldering in her red, ruffles galore two piece. She fixed her hair into two ponytails and completed it with a white ribbon. Conner's eyes were inevitably drawn and stuck to her as she sauntered over to one of the beach chairs and reclined with her cell phone.
Saber donned a scintillating black and green two piece with white lace trim. She remained stubbornly rooted near the doorway, toying with a camera.
But Divya took the cake. Wearing a relentlessly provocative, plunging purple one piece and matching shades, she swaggered over to the beach chairs with Scarlet and took a seat, pulling out her music and drowning the world out.
Richard was almost speechless at the sight of her.
"S-she . . . he-her body," he stammered, looking about frantically at the others. "She has a perfect body, just like Nizhoni's!"
"If you ever want to get a girl, never compare her to another woman," Conner remarked.
Richard turned a deep red just as they heard the sizzling of a grill. Zain, Alfred and Ezio had made their way outside undetected, getting the food show on the roll. Everyone abandoned what they were doing to see what was cooking.
An assortment of kebabs sizzled on the grill. Chicken, sausage, mushrooms, pineapple, red onion, red and green bell peppers, drizzled in sweet soy sauce. Shrimps, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers and zucchini coated in sesame garlic BBQ sauce.
They prepared crepes. Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and cherries, dripping with jam, honey and yogurt, wrapped in warm banana flavored sleeves and topped with coconut flakes and maple syrup. Alfred also had his standard fruit basket arranged, pleasing to the eye and satiable to hunger.
"Why do you do this to us?" Conner groaned as his belly rumbled.
"Good thing we didn't waste our time making breakfast," Zain joked. "I'll call you when everything's ready. Go amuse yourselves for now."
Conner's expression grew dark as he search for a way to vent his hunger frustrations. He found it all too easily, a mischievous smile spreading on his face.
When she wasn't looking, he reared up behind Scarlett, snaking one arm snug beneath her breasts and the other around her hips. Before she could comprehend what was happening, he hoisted her up, ran towards the pool, and dived into the water with her. Everyone gasped in shock, growing inexplicably quiet as the water bubbled and her cellphone floated to the surface.
"Your friend is going to die," whispered Desiree to Kaldur before they both emerged.
Scarlett screamed like a banshee, throwing heavy punches left and right. Most of them connected - the majority of them to his face, but he was too busy laughing hysterically to take cover. A slew of curses peppered the air, and Alfred stood idly at the grill, whistling as he tended the food. Wally turned to Desiree and grinned, but one death glare from her, and he abandoned all ideas of dunking her.
"Just when we were getting along," Zain sighed, shaking his head.
"This was hostile territory from day one," Saber remarked, snapping a picture. "I wonder how he'll hold up to Scarlett's wrath?"
"He won't," Zain laughed humorlessly. "The real question is, how will he recover?"
"He won't," she retorted, both nodding in agreement.
