"Does anyone know how to play an instrument?" Zamora asked over lunch at Death by Decadence. "There's this . . . thing happening, and a friend has asked me to perform at this talent showcase. I don't have any ideas for a solo act."

"I'm pretty nifty with a piano," Saber replied.

"I can touch up on my guitar skills," Desiree added.

"Make that two of us," Lockheart interjected, setting down a pitcher of lemonade.

"I play a mean bass," Divya smirked.

"Throw in some drums and you're complete!" Scarlett said.

"That's perfect," Zamora smiled, taking a big swig of lemonade. "Since I'm doing my friend this favor, I have unlimited reserved seating. We can invite anyone we want, but I have to tell him before a certain time."

"Girl, please," Lockheart snapped. "You know who we're inviting."

"Right. Everyone but Kaldur," Saber murmured, sipping her drink before getting up. "I'ma run to the bathroom."

Everyone watched her leave before exchanging looks with each other.

"What the hell happened between them?" Zain asked.

"They've been avoiding each other since the Atlantis trip," Desiree revealed. "I've asked Wally to find out what happened, but Kaldur won't speak to anyone."

"Well, Saber would have told us if anything was wrong. Maybe she just doesn't like him anymore," Divya drawled.

"I'll be back," Scarlett said, standing to head to the bathroom as well.

When she arrived, Saber was standing at the sink, staring listlessly in the mirror. After checking every stall, she locked the door before joining Saber's side.

"I'm fine," she said, busying herself with washing her hands.

"You're not," Scarlett said, folding her arms and raising her brows. "And given your blasé attitude, I'm guessing Kaldur never told you."

"Told me what?" Saber asked desperately, turning off the water. Scarlett sighed and grabbed her arms gently.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I confronted Kaldur to tell you immediately the moment I found out, but obviously I can't rely on that chicken shit to do anything--"

"Scarlett!"

"Whoops . . . sorry," she said. "The last night of the Atlantis trip, Conner ran into Kaldur on the brink of a meltdown. It took a bit of persuading, but he convinced him to reveal what was going on. Does the names . . . Gula and Tarth ring any bells?"

"Tula and Garth," Saber giggled. "Yes, they're Kaldur's childhood friends. I met them the first night we arrived."

"Oh dear," Scarlett said. "He really hasn't told you anything."

"What? What are you talking about?" she urged.

"Tula . . . isn't just a childhood friend," Scarlett said carefully. "They were serious lovers. She's his ex-fiancee."

Saber exhaled sharply, and Scarlett held her tighter in fear she would faint.

"It was an arranged marriage," she clarified. "Apparently, Kaldur loved her, but not to the point that he wanted to marry her. So, he gave up his title and broke off the engagement to come to Gotham instead."

Saber sagged against the sink, slowly nodding along. It killed Scarlett to continue, but she did.

"It turns out, the night you guys went to see them, Tula tried to get him to leave you . . . by saying she'd bore a secret child by him."
