Beautiful. Kind. Caring.
All words I've been called before.
Heartless. Cold. Emotionless.
Also words I've been called before.
Because I'm a writer.
Words speak to me. They're my specialty.
I know what words people want to hear. I can spin elaborate tales and fulfil people's wildest dreams to make them happy.
It's easy once you talk to someone and experiment a little to see how they react when you act a different way.
She likes it best when you compliment her looks because she's insecure. Tell her she's pretty and gorgeous.
He likes it when you make him feel like you're truly listening to him. Bring up something from the last conversation so he feels special.
And I'm an actress.
My real feelings and thoughts are hidden behind my mask. Glimmers of what lies underneath shine through sometimes.
I've spent my whole life catering to other people and making sure they're happy at the expense of my own.
Oh, it's so easy to get people wrapped around your finger and willing to do anything you want. Just get them feeling happy and good.
But be careful when you meet someone who knows exactly what you need to hear when you're sad or what makes your heart skip a beat.
I come alive on the stage that's life as I act and put on a play for the world. Once, this girl joined me on stage.
She whispered words that made my heart beat faster and held me close as we danced across the stage. She spun me around and pulled me back into her arms in a fiery embrace.
Her touch had my head spinning and her kiss made my body melt against her. Her hands wiped my tears away when I cried. Her laugh filled my heart with happiness.
Her eyes never wavered from mine, though most of her face remained hidden by her mask. Her lips quirked up in a smirk sometimes as if she knew something I didn't.
We had the audience in tears and captivated by our romance. But when the curtains fell and she exited the stage, I realised that somewhere along the way my mask had fallen off.
I forgot we were only acting.
It wasn't real.
So now I always remember to keep my mask on when I act. I take my feelings and I shape them into what the audience wants to hear and see.
Because I can put on a play that can bring you to tears. I can have you hanging onto my every word. Your eyes will be watching my every move, absolutely enthralled by me. Your emotions at my mercy.
But you best remember, it's only a play. And after those curtains fall and I take off my mask, none of it is real.
