Fourty Six

We walk out of the pod thing and it's dark, very dark.

"What time is it?" He asks and I get my phone out

"Six" i say

"How?" He asks

"You fell asleep finally and then I fell asleep because were both lazy" i say and he chuckles

"We should go back to the house, well palace" he says and i chuckle

"Yeah, we should" i say

I step forward of the wooden step into something soft.

"Oh my god Alex" i whine, "I just stood on something, please say it's not an animal. Oh my god! What did I just step on!"

He laughs and gets out this phone to put the torch on and i gasp at the white blanket of snow under out feet

"We missed the snow!" I shriek

"But there's snow" he says

"Oh my god I'm in shock, there's not been snow like this in years" I say before a freezing cold snow ball hits my face

"Shit" Alex curses laughing slightly, "I wasn't actually aiming for your face"

"Oh no you didn't" I say laughing slightly which makes him feel better for almost knocking me out.

"Yes I did" he says

"That's it, your going down" I say

"In your dreams" he says

I zip up my coat all the way and put my hood up.

I rush away from him and when I'm out of sight i duck down and start collecting my ammunition of snow balls I can use against him.

I hear a footprint crunch in the snow then a.... "shit"

"Attack!" I shout and start full pelting snow balls at him and he just runs forwards me and tackles me down and i laugh but start to panic when we start rolling down the hill.

"Oh my god" i say as we just lie in the snow side by side

"That was awesome! Let's do it again" I say and he chuckles

We both get up and i write the snow off my coat but it doesn't work.

We walk along the path and into the house where I see my mum in the kitchen.

"Where have you two been?" She asks with a smirk

"One, get your mind out of the gutter. Two, we fell asleep in the pod. Three, we fell down a hill" i say

"Sounds like you've had a good time" she says and i nod taking my coat off

"I'll take your coat" i tell Alex

"Thanks" he says and I walk into the hallway and i hang them up.

I peer into the living room to see my grandma looking at some photographs.

"Hey grandma, you okay?" I ask her and she nods

"I'm just looking at pictures of my wedding day" she says and i smile

"Can I see?" I ask sitting down next to her

"You look beautiful" I say

"Thank you, I'm afraid I don't have it anymore" she says

I scoff, "excuse me, you definitely still have it"

"Well thank you" she says

"How are you doing?" I ask her

"I'm doing alright, I'm glad I get to see you. When do you go back?" She asks me

"I'm not sure yet, I guess we go back when dad is sick of me" i say with a chuckle and she smiles

"Well you can stay here as long as you want for me" she says and i smile

"I'm always welcome at grandmas" I say

"You sure are" she says

"So What's going on with you and the handsome boy?" She asks me

"Alex is my boyfriend" I say and she smiles

"Oh I'm so glad! He's so nice, very chatty to me. Have you told him about..." she asks and I shake my head

"No, I'm just going to see how it goes. It's new" I say

"I see the way you look at each other, darling just please tell him before you both end up with broken hearts" She says

"How can I tell him grandma?" I ask, "it's not something I can just bring up in a conversation. Plus there's nothing I can do about it. It's not like he can just magically become royal is it? I mean why is there such a stupid rule? Great grandma ruled for thirty years without a husband her side and she did great"

"Alex does look like someone" she says changing the subject

"Yeah everyone's been saying that. Mum and dad think he looks like Luca when he was younger" i say leaning back against the sofa and her head snaps towards me

"Luca..." she says her voice trailing off...

"You okay?" I ask her

She looks towards me, "yes, sorry. I just had a thought"

I shrug, "okay"
