Trapped In Lace

Sixty

These past few weeks I've been so distracted, by literally everything, I've been in a daze, living but kind of not living. Kind of like I'm there but not fully there, I don't know how to explain it.

I've not been doing the best in school either and I've been out of focus ever since I had a horrid conversation with my mum.

"Lily, what's going on?" Izzy asks me waking into my room

"What do you mean?" I ask putting my book down onto the bed next to me.

"You've been weird for these last few weeks" she says

"Mum told me to start looking at wedding dresses" i say and her jaw drops.

"Oh my god" she says and i nod

"Yeah" i breathe out looking at the ceiling.

"Come on, we need to get your mind of all of this" she says dragging me up.

"What is going to get my mind of this?" I ask her

"Helping me tidy for my grandma coming next week" she says

"Right... wow that's come around fast" I say and she nods

"Well, school has been going quite fast recently. Maybe that's because I've been busy" she says and i nod

"Come on, let's keep all of the wedding nonsense out of your head and let's blast some music and let's have some fun cleaning whilst my parents take my siblings to the hair dressers" she tells me smiling before dragging me out of my room.

"Your right, this is fun" i say cleaning the windows.

"Right! It's quite satisfying" Izzy says

Lydia groans walking in and falls onto the floor, "I hate this"

"Fine, you get started on washing the dishes" she says

"No" Lydia says, "absolutely not! The feeling of touching wet food is disgusting"

"I know what you mean" I say nodding

"We're here to help!" Ryan shouts walking in the front door.

Wait Ryan?

"Ryan?" I ask

"Sorry, he made me bring him" Alex says appearing into the living room and i kiss him

"Its alight. We needed the extra member, Lydia has had enough" i say

"I can see that" Ryan says stepping over her, Lydia still lying on the floor

"You alright I'm Ryan" he says looking down at Lydia.

"What's up Ryan, I'm Lydia"

"I like that cleaning method you have there, cleaning the carpet whilst you down there, nice" Ryan says and Izzy laughs.

"And who are you?" Ryan asks

"Izzy" she says

"If you haven't guessed already, I'm Ryan" he says and i smile

"I'm going to go clean the kitchen" Izzy says

"I'll help" Ryan says following her and I hear them talking before they both laugh.

"Power move" I say high fiving Alex

"She broke up with Olly but the way" Lydia says rolling over on the floor.

"How about you do and do something useful?" I ask her

"Your right, I'll go FaceTime Leo" she says before disappearing

"This house is crazy" i say and Alex nods

"So what's the big deal?" He asks me, "it's their grandma"

"From what I've gathered she only comes to visit when she wants something, I don't know. It's all confusing" i say and he nods

"Anyway, the day she comes if you don't want to be there we could do something" he says and i smile

"Really?" I ask and he nods

"Yay! Great, what do you want to do?" I ask him

"We could go bowling" he says

"Yes" I say and he laughs

"I'm taking your better and bowling than at golf" he says

"No it's the other way around" i say and he laughs

"Gracie is having another party! This Saturday!" Izzy shouts

"Okay!" I say back to her

"Party, this should be fun" i say

"It's not going to be" he says

"But with me there, it will be" i say and he smiles

"I can't argue against that logic" he says and i smile

"Okay, I need to talk to you" he says and i nod

"Okay, took a serious turn" i say slightly on edge.

"It's Mary's birthday on Wednesday and I need help planning something. Her family is coming but i don't have a venue or a cake or decorations. I have people that's it" he says

"Hang on a second" i say

"You planned a birthday without telling me and I only have three days to save it?" I ask him

"Yeah" he says sheepishly

"Oh my god" i say

"I know it's running late" he says

Venue?

Cake?

Decorations?

Friends?

Family?

"What are we going to do! I'm sorry I left it so last minute and I was so busy trying to make sure everyone could fly out there i complete forgot about everyone else" he rambles and I cut him off.

"Alex, I love you but shut up for a second. I have a lot to do" I say before taking out my phone and I start googling venues near where I am.

"Hang on, you what?" He asks me and my eyes widen and I just realised what I just said

"I uh..." i say looking up at him, "I love you"

"I love you too" he says and he kisses me

I hear cheering, we pull away from each other and Ryan and Izzy come dancing into the room smiling at us.

Oh my god.

I do.

I love him.

What am I going to do?
