It was the week of Homecoming. Last year Yasmine was with Julio one town over at a thrift store to find an old dress that she could modify into a modern beauty for her to wear and claim that her mother had it custom made just for the girl. It seemed so foolish now to the DeSantos girl as she looked back on it. After all she spent so much time making herself look like a picture perfect girl for a death to change everything. She wouldn't even be attending Homecoming since she was still being held for the death of Jason Blossom. Julio visited his sister, bringing her a book to read. He even made arrangements for her homework to be delivered so she could have something, anything, to do. It was hard, especially when Sheriff Keller stopped allowing anyone but Julio to visit. Yasmine's mental state was slowly degrading. After all she was in jail for a crime she never committed, over the death of a man who she was starting to fall for. Yasmine wished she could see Jughead, he was someone who would be real with her. Julio was hiding things and she just wanted something real right now.

Police sirens drew closer to the police station. Yasmine stood up from the cot she had. It was rare to hear sirens. Especially when the homecoming dance was in full swing. The sirens stopped and the girl sat back down as the silence of the police cell surrounded her again. The doors opened and an officer was escorting a handcuffed man into the room. The girl looked up at the man and he looked at her. "Mr. Jones?" Yasmine questioned softly. FP wasn't able to say anything as he was placed into the cell next to one of his son's newest friends. "Well Miss DeSantos it looks like you're cleared after all." A second officer spoke as the girl's cell was open. "The release forms are being filled out. You can gather your things and be out of here shortly. With FP locked in a cell the two officers left the room leaving the girl to pack up her things.

Yasmine didn't look at FP as she slowly packed her bags. "Look after my boy will ya? You and your brother, take care of our own." FP's voice was soft as he just sat back on the bench. Yasmine picked up the bag of school books and notebooks before turning to the man. "Did you really do it? Or is this a goose chase?" She asked with an emotionless voice. The older Serpent looked at the girl, "I don't know how that gun got there." Before the two could talk anymore Yasmine was taken out of the room. The police station couldn't get a hold of Julio DeSantos but Yasmine was still released.

**POV YASMINE**

Finally being out of the jail cell was a very relieving feeling. Yet I still felt numb inside. Riverdale was madness and nothing made sense. I craved some kind of normalcy and the one place I could think of to go was Pop's. I entered the diner and I felt eyes on me, I probably looked awful. I didn't eat much when I was in the jail and I didn't have any makeup on or my hair done. My hair was piled on the crown of my head in a messy bun, the dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep and who knows what else were very prominent. My limbs feel heavy, my head lowered to lock my eyes on the floor as I walked over to the normal booth. I sat alone in the booth for a few moments before Pop Tate came to check on me.

"Good to see you back kiddo, can I get you anything?" He asked softly as I turned to look up from the table as I heard him speak. I tried to smile at him like I usually would but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. "Just coffee Pop. Have... Have you seen Jughead?" I asked softly fiddling with the fraying ends of my sweater sleeves. Pop shook his head, "He's probably still at the school." Pop left the table to get me the coffee. I curled up on the booth bench, drawing my knees in as tight as I could. My eyes stared out the window as I sipped the hot black coffee.

With cup in hand, eyes lifelessly gazing out the window, I seemed to just get lost. My mind was blank, my body felt numb, and I didn't feel like I was present in the moment. It hasn't been the first time either but it keeps repeating and each time the dissociating happens I feel like it lasts for longer. I don't know how long it lasted this time but I was drawn back to reality when I felt the cup in my hand being removed from my hold. My head slowly turned from the window to look at my empty hand. My eyelids slowly opened and closed as I regained my mind. Lifting my head slowly, I seen the cup of now cool coffee on the table in front of me and as my head lifted further I seen the familiar face of Archie Andrews dressed in a red suit jacket. "Yasmine, are you okay?" A soft voice from my left asked. I licked my dry lips as I turned to see Veronica sitting next to me, her hair pinned back a bit, wearing a sparkly dress and black shrug style coat. "Yeah, how was the dance?" I asked but there was no energy to my voice.
