Chapter Sixteen
I woke to the brightly lit sun shining down on my face making me squint as I opened my eyes seeing the rays casting in through the window. There were no curtains to shield from it nor blinds to block it out. I'm used to sleeping until eleven on weekends in my dark sanctuary dorm room.
Bates was still asleep on the left side of me with one arm draped across my stomach and the other underneath my back with our legs tangled together, it felt so good to be wrapped in his arms. So safe and secure.
I didn't want to move from my cozy little spot but I seriously needed to saturate my throat with water because it was terribly dry and I needed to move out of this bright sunlight.
I snuck a peek at Bates before I eased away, his sleeping state was angel-like, beautifully peaceful making me wonder what he was dreaming about. I drank in his features, my eyes running from the curls in his hairline down his face to that strong jaw. My hand was itching to touch him, to run my fingers down his neck.
I raised my hand to his face tracing his bottom lip with my thumb, I wanted to kiss him so badly but I didn't want to disturb him so I gently lifted his left hand that was thrown across me and eased it over his hip laying it down. I slowly inched my leg from under his and placed my feet on the floor.
I sit up easily off of his right arm trying not to stir him as I rise from the couch grabbing his shirt and slipping it on. I tip toed my way to the kitchen getting a glass from his cabinet and filling it with water from the tap. The cool liquid rushed down my parched throat as I guzzled it down.
I opened the refrigerator looking for a quick snack and noticed that he kept it well stocked to be a man living alone.
Another turn on, and he can cook!
I decided on veggies, a stick of celery and a bag of baby carrots will do. I may as well make him something since I am in his kitchen and stayed the night. No one probably ever cooks for him, he's always the one cooking so why not?
I pulled out the eggs, Bacon, and some ingredients to make pancakes batter then turned on the stove to heat. Rummaging through his cupboards, I noticed he has every type and flavor of seasonings and spices. Then my mother's words came back to me...
To a man's heart is through his stomach...
Then I think to myself he's the chef so we must be backwards or either I got really lucky..
It felt so comfortable and.... right to be wearing his shirt and cooking in his kitchen while he's sleeping.
I shook those thoughts away as I found a large bowl pouring in the flour, milk and eggs with a dash of sugar and began to whisk it.

As I dipped up the last few strips of Bacon, I noticed a sleepy but Oh, so sexy Bates leaning against the wall shirtless wearing only his pajama bottoms and that sexy smirk with his hands in his pockets looking at me with lightly squinted eyes.
I'm no longer hungry for food...
"Good morning," I said. My face must have flushed red at the sight of him. His hair was wild and not neatly combed as usual making by breath get caught in my throat.
"Morning, beautiful." He said as he noticed my flushed face and the breakfast I prepared.
"I can't even get my kitchen to smell this good let alone seeing a sight as beautiful as you standing in it." He was walking toward me, grabbing a piece of Bacon putting it in his delicious mouth then stood behind me wrapping his muscular arms around me.
I placed my hands on top of his, "your so sweet." Then I craned my neck to kiss him gently on the lips.
"Are you hungry?" I pulled back looking into his green pools that drawn me in. He smiled, "that, I am..." He hasn't been awake for ten minutes and he's made me blush twice, these feelings I'm having are growing and intensifying to say the least. "For food I meant." I said with a chuckle lightly slapping his arm.
"I'm always hungry. Always hungry for food and even more for you." He said as tapped me on my ass after letting go of my hips coming on the side of me to make his plate. "I'll get it babe, sit down, let someone else do it for a change." I said to him taking the plate from him. He put his hands up, "can't argue with the cook," making us both laugh.
I made both of our plates, poured myself orange juice and him pineapple juice as we sat at his bar eating our breakfast. "I'm off of work until two if you would like to stay until then. We could watch a movie or go for a walk or something." He said as he grabbed my hand running his thumb over my knuckles. "I'd like that. I would love to take a shower if that's okay." I asked.
"Absolutely. I'll jump in after you, although I'd hate to waste a second without you." He replied as he took a bite of his pancakes.
He's so sweet. Sweeter than those damn pancakes!
We continued making small talk as we ate, we talked about how long he's lived here, his last stalker girlfriend, and other small topics. Apparently they were in love and she got overly obsessive with Bates and the breakup wasn't easy for her at all. He seemed like he didn't like talking about it so I didn't pry.
I rinced our dishes then I walked to his bedroom grabbing my clothes considering they were what I arrived in and all that I had.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Getting my clothes to shower, why?" I replied wondering where he was going with this.
"You are so hot wearing my shirt, it looks great on you.... I could look at you all day in it walking around my apartment." He rested his hands on my hips as I looked up at him. Was that an invitation that slipped through his lips? To stay here when I wanted to?
Oh, he's good.
That was a good line, I'll admit. But, there's something in his seductive eyes saying he's being honest, that he wants more too. I definitely want to know more about him, that's what I've wanted since I started this semester, seeing him almost everyday his gaze locked on mine as I pass him in the hallway at school.
He must have been thinking the same thing as me because when I heard these words from his mouth, my heart picked up. "Quinn, you are a very beautiful woman inside and out. My heart races each time I see you and waking up to you cooking for us, in my apartment, barefoot in my kitchen is enough to make me smile for a lifetime and that's the truth." He was now cupping my cheek with his other hand on the small of my back.
"Bates, I feel the same way. I'm starting to develop feelings for you and I usually never like someone so quickly, but your different. I feel safe with you." Those green eyes still reeling me in.
His next words almost brought me to my knees, I really like you, Quinn....and I want to call you mine."
A/N: this chapter was rushed and I deeply apologize. Please let me know what you think. What do you think of Bates' confession? I hope he's the one!
