Chapter Thirty Six

Dedicated to DescentIntoDarkness

She climbs in closing her door and starts the engine as I lie on the floorboard of her car. She turns up the music and starts singing loudly to Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do".

Are you kidding me? Someone just shoot me in the face now.

I glance up in her direction and I see her hair tossing back and forth from bobbing her head to the music. I have no clue where we're going and this bitch is tipsy, swerving all over the road, hitting the brakes repeatedly and driving with no seat belt, she's going to get us killed if she doesn't chill the fuck out.

I reached down and shoved my phone and Annalise's keys down into my pocket so I wouldn't lose them or leave any evidence behind. I don't have a plan so I'm going to have to act on instinct and hope it works out in my favor. I'll wait until she drives a few miles before I do anything.

I began to get really nervous and my hands started to sweat, I've never really done anything this drastic before and if Bates knew where I was and what I was doing he'd be really upset with me so I have to make this quick and worth it. I looked out of the top of the window to try to make out what part of the city we were in and saw that there wasn't that many street lights passing by so we must be getting out of town and further into isolation.....right where I want her.

I propped myself up on my elbows to get a better view of where we were and her phone started ringing making me duck back down on the floorboards. She began to dig in what I'm assuming was her purse in the passenger seat and after about thirty seconds she successfully found it and answered it by saying, "hey Rachel, I'm almost there....pause....maybe ten or fifteen minutes....pause.....or whenever the fuck I get there. Hang on, I'm turning on a side road so I can talk to you...... No, I'm not drunk you slut!"

She is a fucking bitch.

She slowed down and turned down a bumpy gravel road still snaking in and out of the gravel absentmindedly.

"Don't tell him that I'm coming,  I want it to be a surprise. He's going to be so stoked when he sees me in my new outfit, I'm going to teas--" I seriously couldn't take anymore of the sound of her scratchy voice. I rose from the floor board, my left hand wrapping around her mouth as my right snatched her phone from her ear hitting the red button then tossing it on the seat.

"Drive normal and if you do anything stupid I will fucking stab you in the neck. You irritate the hell out of me." I said against her ear as I held my hand over her mouth pulling her head back against the seat. I didn't have anything to stab her with but I wanted to scare her into thinking that I would if she pissed me off enough. I looked at her in the rear-view mirror and her eyes were wide, I'm not certain if she could see me or not, not that it mattered anyway, the whole point is for her to get my message to leave us the fuck alone. Her phone started ringing again, probably the chic that called her a few minutes ago wondering why she had hung up on her. Madison didn't try reaching for it.

"Keep going until I tell you to stop." I told her making my voice as cold as I could. Yet I didn't want to go too far and not find my way back, we'd already crossed the bridge into Grand Central and Brooklyn was only a few miles away. Surprisingly, she cooperated and stayed quiet following my directions instead of lashing out in a drunken bitch fit like I thought she would. "Park at the end of the road."
