Chapter Thirty-Eight
"We should have a dinner tonight, the four of us." Bates said as he was picking up beer bottles in the living room from last night's game. Max was sitting on the couch that he'd slept on agreeing with Bates. "Hey, Quinn, Bates mentioned that you have a friend who's single. I'd love to meet her." I glared at Bates. "Actually she's seeing someone right now." I responded. "Damn dude, you didn't tell me all that." Max said rubbing his head looking at Bates smiling.
"Of course he didn't." I said.
"Well what's the harm in me wanting my girlfriend's best friend to have a decent guy for a boyfriend? Especially after all that I've heard about the last one she had. I just think she deserves a good guy and Max fits that description." Bates defended himself.
"I do have to bring her car to her soon. I'll call her and see if she's free this evening. I have to talk to her anyways." I said as I finished straightening out the throw blanket on the back of the chair.
"Sweet!" Max said as he made a loud clap with his hands. That made me smile as I briefly pictured Annalise and Max together and Bates is right, they'd make a great couple. Although she'd just started seeing Jordan to take her mind off of being heart broken by Adam, I wouldn't mind her meeting Max. Out of my peripheral, I saw Max looking at me so I glanced in his direction to see what the hell he was looking at, "Quinn, what happened to your face? You didn't have that last night did you?"
I nervously chuckled, I'd completely forgotten about my bruised face from fighting Madison last night. "No, a cat fight broke out at the bar last night and I happened to be in the way."
"Damn. I would've definitely put these guns on them." Max said as a matter of factly while flexing his muscles. "I was thinking the same thing, bro!" Bates yelled from the hallway.
"It's fine, I won't let it happen again though."
If they only fucking knew.

I texted Annalise asking if she had plans this evening and thankfully she said no and I told her that I was on my way to pick her up to eat dinner with us. I told her to pack a bag just in case she gets a little tipsy she can just stay over.
Bates rode with me to pick up Annalise while Max showered. He joked and said that he wanted to shave and dress to impress her but in my opinion, she'd be drooling if he wore only a trash bag.
Bates texted Annalise from my phone telling her that we were outside and not even two minutes later, she was running out towards our car slipping on her jacket. She opened the passenger door not seeing Bates and as soon as it opened he said, "taken.." referring to the passenger seat. She let out an aggravated 'ugghh' when she seen Bates in the front seat of her own car.
"You're lucky I'm letting you ride shotgun, Bates. If you were anyone else, your ass would be in the trunk!" Annalise said as she climbed in the backseat. I looked in the rearview mirror at her with a grin knowing she was thinking the same thing that I was.
"Good evening, Annalise." Bates greeted her.
"Sup," she responded as she put her bag beside her on the seat.
"So you guys are inviting me over for dinner? I swear I have the coolest friends anyone could ask for. I was just literally debating on what I could eat that didn't require cooking or taking a cab. Wait, are you two up to something?" She asked.
