Chapter 10- The Best Birthday Ever

I woke up. Ugh. Bright lights. People everywhere. Where was I? I became more alert. Wasn't I supposed to be at Jersey shore? I realized I was back at camp in the infirmary. I looked around to see Percy holding a crying Annabeth, Jason stroking a worried Piper's hair, and Brittany asleep, her head lying on my stomach. I remembered the battle. I felt my magic drumstick and guitar pick in my back pocket. I laid still not wanting to startle anyone. I groaned feeling pain in my face. The sword must have done a great deal to my face.
Annabeth stopped crying. Piper and Jason got up. Percy looked at me. They all walked over to me.
"Hey, Champ," Annabeth said softly, "how's it going?"
"Not too well, but I'm feeling okay," I answered.
"You did great battling that giant, Jagger," Percy added, "He was almost out when me and Jason got to him." He tried to smile.
"Oh Jagger, we're so sorry," Piper apologized, "we should have gave your team another member since you and Brittany are new demigods. Then this might not have happened."
"But it could still have happened Piper," I tried to comfort her.
Jason put his arm around her shoulders.
"Should we wake up Brittany?" Percy asked.
I nodded.
Annabeth shook Brittany's shoulder gently.
"Jagger's awake, Brittany," Annabeth said.
Brittany jolted up. "Jagger?!"
She gasped and tears slowly dropped down her cheeks. "We were so worried! What happened to you?"
I explained that a random sword and slashed into my face and then the giant's hand smacked me, making me go flying. Then I told them how I had gotten Percy's attention to help and then I had blacked out. Brittany wrapped her arms around my neck.
"I'm so glad you're alright," she said.
She stood straight up and let go of my neck.
"Um, Jagger?" She asked.
"Yeah?" I answered.
"You have something on your face."
I wiped my face. "Better?"
"No." Brittany said frowning.
"Oh gods!" Annabeth blurted out, "How did I not notice before? Jagger, you have a scar across your face..."
I literally almost screamed my head off. I was going to go nuts. A scar across my face?! How big of a scar? How deep? Oh no! The Apollo in me is making me all crazy.
"Guys?" I asked. "Is this the day after the quest?"
"Well a few minutes until exactly twelve in the mid night, but pretty much. Why?" Percy asked.
"Because it's the new year and my birthday. My birthday is January first," I answered.
"Oh yeah! It is the new year! Happy new year everyone!" Jason and Percy yelled.
Suddenly, Leo can running in.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" He yelled, surprisingly really loud.
"Leo!" Annabeth, Piper, and Brittany scolded.
"Oh sorry," Leo said in a softer voice.
I stood up and shook Leo's hand. "It's cool," I told him. "Come on guys the fire works will be starting soon right?"
Everyone nodded and we walked to the side of the lake. I looked at my watch. It was 11:58. I looked at Brittany.
"I love you," I whispered in her ear.
"I love you more," she responded.
I leaned in and we kissed. I looked at my watch again while we kissed. It was exactly 12:00. I looked around to see Percy and Annabeth hugging and Jason holding Piper as they looked at the moon. Leo was just standing there awkwardly. I gently pulled away from Brittany and hugged her. Fireworks shot up into the sky. All of us watched as fireworks filled the sky. I pulled Leo over to Brittany and I. Leo stood in the middle of us, putting an arm around me and an arm around Brittany. I put one arm across Leo, and Brittany did the same. We were holding hands behind Leo's back.
Later on at about 7:30 am it was breakfast time. All the cabins walked to the dining pavilion. After breakfast, Brittany ran up to me. "Hey Music Man!" She said, "I got Chiron to agree to letting you and I spend a day off. So... Happy 13th birthday!" She yelled.
I smiled. This would be a great day.
First, we went canoeing at the lake. Then we did a little sparring. At lunch time, we had a picnic by the lake. After we ate, we ended up splashing around and eventually swimming. Then we just relaxed. I played a few songs on my guitar and danced with Brittany.
Soon it was dinner time. We went to the dining pavilion to eat. We did all the sacrificing of our food and stuff and ate. After dinner, Percy, Annabeth, Piper, Jason, Leo, Nico, Brittany, and I had cake for my birthday. Everyone sang 'Happy Birthday' and we celebrated. This day was amazing. I spent almost a whole day with my girlfriend and spent my birthday with all my friends surrounding me. We took a group picture around my cake.
The curfew horn blew and we all walked to our cabins. I took the picture and printed it out. I climbed up onto my top bunk. I took the picture and taped it to the ceiling. I laid down and looked up at the picture. We were all happy and smiling. That was one of my greatest moments. The best birthday ever.
