"Where the fuck have you been?"
"I'm sorr—" You tried to apologize. Adults liked it when you apologize.
"Save it, I don't need your sorry ass excuses."
"It's just I fainted, and I missed the train, and—"
"I SAID NO EXCUSES!"
You immediately froze up, staying completely still with practiced ease. You learned that in these situations it was best to just shut up and take it.
"I WORK ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT TO AFFORD THIS APARTMENT, I LET YOU STAY HERE FREE OF CHARGE, AND ALL I ASK IN RETURN IS A FEW SIMPLE CHORES. YOU CAN'T EVEN DO THAT, YOU BRAT!"
'Breathe in. Breathe out. Let it go in one ear and out the other. Let it wash over you. You've heard worse. This is nothing'
"YOU CALL THIS CLEAN!"
Mikko-san started tossing the dirty dishes that you had forgot to clean up this morning at the wall. It shattered with a ear splitting sound. It probably wasn't that bad, but you hated excess sound. She picked up a few more dishes and you winced as they burst, releasing the familiar sound.
"I GUESS I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING MYSELF, BECAUSE YOU HAD SUCH A HARD DAY, HUH. WELL I WORK MY ASS OF EVERY DAY AND NIGHT, BUT NO, SIT, LET ME MAKE YOU DINNER!"
She forcefully shoved you in a chair and angrily started to make dinner. You just sat there. Completely still. If she didn't know better, she would of thought your quirk was paralysis.
She shoved the completed omelet rice at your face.
"Eat up, brat."
She had calmed down a bit now, but you were still doubtful. There was probably nothing wrong with the food, for the months you'd been here it was always edible, and never drugged. But you weren't particularly hungry, and the ordeal with Mikko-san didn't improve your appetite. However, knowing refusing to eat the food she had "so kindly made for her" would only aggravate her more, she took a few bites. Mikko-san was watching her, like a hawk, so she took a few more bites, until you finally cleaned off the plate. After that you politely asked to be exsused and exited to your room.
You laid down on your bed letting, wishing it would swallow you whole. Then you remembered, the cats. Who would take care of the cats in the alley if you weren't there? You sighed. You would live, for the cats. You sighed again, deeper this time, closing your eyes, wishing sleep would come, but knowing it never would. Another sleepless night.
