Chapter 6 - Part 3 - Daily Life

We stared at the machine in shock. "Woops, wasn't meant to say that! Oh well..." He boy muttered. Pearl seemed the most surprised "That can't be true! We all saw him get bloody executed! There's no fuckin' way he survived that!" She yelled. The AI simply giggled "That was a fake, silly! Don't you realise my plan?"

There was a small moment of confusion, then the boy continued "I wanted to bring despair to my brother. You lot were just bonuses." 

Jamie seemed annoyed, but he spoke calmly "What's keeping him alive going to do?! Wasn't that despair you gave him earlier be enough to satisfy you?!" The AI laughed at this "Don't you remember? Oscar wanted to die. So, by keeping him alive, he's corrupt with the despair of surviving. Survivors guilt I think they call it..." 

Suddenly, Pearl slammed her fists against the machine "You damn freak! What 'ave you done to the boy?! What 'ave ya put him through?!" She yelled. "P-Pearl!" I grabbed onto her shoulder. The AI looked unfazed "I think the question is more, what has he put himself through." It muttered

I realised what it meant

Oscar... He must have felt plenty of guilt, being the "mastermind" and all. It could drive even the calmest of people insane...

 "Now what?" Lewis asked, snapping me out of my train of though "Do we... Destroy it... Or..." The AI seemed to darken at the idea of being destroyed "I wouldn't do that. I'm the only way out of this place. And I do intend on letting you out... But not quite yet." 

Even the thought of escape seemed to calm things down slightly. But... what now? The AI then continued "But for now... Just spend your time doing whatever you please... As long as you follow the rules of course." 

There was a wave of disappointment. The AI then seemed to switch off. "Is it dead?" Lewis asked. Jamie sighed "It probably just shut down... What now?"

 "I'll tell ya what now matey..."

 Pearl was standing near the main hall's entrance "We go and find 'im! Oscar I mean!" She said. "What good would that do?" Jamie asked. Pearl sighed "I don't know... But there ain't any harm in tryin'."

I nodded "Pearl's right. We have to do something and this is the most logical." 

The others seemed to agree, so we started out search for Oscar
