A/N: So here's the next chapter, I'm trying my best to update more often. I seriously feel bad about not posting for a few months. Don't worry, this chapter is better! Vote and comment me your feedback, it helps a ton ;] Enjoy!

There’s a time when you just know everything is going to be alright. This wasn’t one of those times. I woke up with a knot in my stomach. The mental kind, where you know something is wrong. I was in bed with Tom. The sheets lay mostly at the bottom of the bed, his body was delicate, his skin pale. He looked so innocent, so fragile, that even someone as small as me could hurt him. My hair was matted from the night before and my makeup must have looked horrendous. The clothes from the night before was scattered on the floor, thrown there with little effort. What happened last night? Tom stirred, turning his head from one side to the other. He was beautiful. I looked out in front of me, his apartment was one of a minimalist’s, simple. It held very little.  I got out of bed and found myself wondering what I was going to do now. Tom had a few jobs lined up and I was sure there would be more. He was brilliant. The people that ambled around the streets were suddenly intriguing to me. They were so tiny. Folding my arms, I suddenly felt how cold my body was. The skin on my arms was frozen when it touched the bare skin on my chest. Turning around, I grabbed my loose fitting shirt from the night before and my blazer. No sense in making clean clothes dirty. Creeping out of the room, I made some coffee for the two of us. Two teaspoons of sugar and coffee for me, and one of each for Tom. Milk for both.

“Honey?” I sat the two drinks at the night stand on my side before getting on the bed gently. I sat on my legs and leaned closer to him. My fingers ran themselves through his long, dark hair, as I sprinkled his face with soft kisses. “Good morning.”

“Good morning love.” His eyes were shut, but I could hear the softness in his voice.

Propping the pillow up against his headboard, I sat and grabbed the coffee into my hands. “It’s a beautiful day out, what do you say we go out and get some breakfast?”

Tom always took a while to get up in the mornings. “Uh….”

“I’m taking that as a yes?” I chuckled before taking a sip. The warmth of the drink was amazing. Sure the sun was out, but the cold that hung over London was ludicrous.

“Okay, only if you do one thing for me.” He mumbled into his pillow.

“What’s that?”

“Gimme another kiss.” He was so cute when he was like this, how could I say ‘no’.

Tom and I picked up Al before breakfast, it wasn’t too early, we’d actually slept in. It was going to be more of a brunch occasion.

“Thanks again for looking after him. I owe you.”

“Well, if you put it that way. How does a session at the nail salon sound? I’m due for my infill’s anyway.” She gazed at her nails, and so did I.

“That sounds amazing actually. We can get Kris to come.” I smiled as Tom put Al into the car. “Anyways, we’ve got to run. Thanks again Kim. I’ll give you a txt yeah?”

“Just go already.” She smirked at me, waving.

“Did you have fun with Aunty Kim?” I asked Alastair while Tom turned his key in the ignition.

“Yeah!” He was jumpy, they must have had an amazing time.

“That’s good. What did you two do?”

Apparently, they watched a lot of SpongeBob and played a few games. Kim had made some playdough from scratch and Al had chosen the colour. She packed most of it into his bag in a container for him to play with later. Bless her.

“So where do you want to go for brunch darling?”

“I’m not fussed. Where do you want to go Al?”

“McDonald’s!” Al shouted happily in his seat.

Tom and I looked at each other, grins on our faces. “McDonald’s it is.”

We arrived there easily enough, traffic was usual, too many people on the road, too many on the footpath, and too many people in general. Tom found a parking by the second round and we piled out of a car. I grabbed Alastair and Tom grabbed his bag, just in case. Grabbing my small handbag, I started walking into the building. This one had a playground, and Al saw before I did.

“There Mummy! There!”

“After eating alright? Food first.” Al moaned a bit but after I explained, we were alright.

Tom and I chose a seat that was inside the play area. Al of course didn’t listen to me but chose to play and run back to the table to eat. He did this quite a few times before settling on eating first.

“I haven’t had a Cheeseburger in so long.” I said halfway through. “I’d forgotten how good they are. Or maybe I’m just starving.”

Tom smiled at me, “Neither.”

Before I could even register what was going on, there they were. The knot in my stomach was right, it wasn’t a good thing. Camera flashes were everywhere and they were even scaring the other children in the play area. How heartless were these people, to disturb children. I dropped my burger and left my food. Running to Alastair, I picked him up roughly and Tom grabbed our belongings.

I’d pulled Alastair’s hoodie over his face and I kept my head down. Tom was now ahead of us, pushing past the people.

“How do you feel about your girlfriend cheating on you?” One of them asked.

“How long has this been going on Ms Nemesio?” Another pushed at me.

“You two were looking very cosy?” they were poking at me like I was a dead frog on a lab table.

“Ms Ms! Over here!” they kept pushing, lights blinding us.

Alastair started to cry, my heart broke a little.

“Come on. In here.” A familiar voice, Tom’s voice.

I followed him and jumped into the car with Al. I sat in the back with him, the windows were tinted but they continued to take photos.

“It’s alright baby, they’re going away now. See?” Al was still sniffling, the shock still affecting him. I ran my hand up and down his back as he hugged me.

Tom looked at me through the rearview mirror, his face hard. He pulled out of the parking lot and drove away quickly.

“It’s okay honey. Don’t worry, Mummy’s here to protect you.” A lie.

You never realise how much your parents lie to you, until you are one.
