"Dean, you're in no condition to go after her."
I try to reason with my sick brother, who should be resting instead of trying to find the keys to the Impala. He asks wearily,
"Where are they, Sammy?"
I shake my head,
"Dude, you're not driving. You have a bad flu."
He sneezes and says nasally,
"Dammit, Dam. She's out dere on her own. She needs our help."
I respond,
"Dean, she'll be fine. We trained her, and we're the best hunters in the country."
He nods, and then sways where he's standing so I run to help him. I assist him in getting to the chair and tell him politely to calm down.
"Amanda will be fine, it's just a basic ghost hunt. She'll salt and burn the bones of the problem spirit and be back here in a few hours."
Dean coughs, and I go to the cabinet to grab him some Halls. After grabbing him a handful of them, I return to Dean. I hand him all the strawberry creme flavored cough drops I grabbed. He takes them all and places all but one on the side table next to him. As he's sucking on it, he says,
"Go check on her."
I look at him,
"I'm not gonna leave you, you're ill."
He responds,
"What? Sam, I'll be okay for a bit. Please, go check."
I nod my head and say,
"Fine. I'll call as soon as I get there and put her on the line to prove that she's safe."
He seems satisfied with that as I wave goodbye and reluctantly step out of the front door. I get in the Impala and drive two hours to the case that Amanda is working and see her Dodge Charger parked at a house where there's been a reported poltergeist. I walk up the stone steps and knock on the white wooden door. Amanda opens it and I say,
"You're safe. I told Dean. I knew you were."
She smiles,
"Just about to head back. I'm finished here, I was gonna call Dean when I got back to my car."
I nod,
"Yeah, Dean tends to worry too much. Go ahead, call him."
We're both outside now and she takes out her iPhone 7 with a black case on it and scrolls to Dean's contact. She clicks it and informs him that she's done her job and she's ready to come back. I can hear the relief in his voice as he says,
"I'll be waiting for you."
Amanda smiles and climbs into her black Dodge Charger at the same time I get in the Impala. We both arrive at the Bunker simultaneously and head inside. Once we walk in, we see Dean asleep in the chair, holding his phone. Amanda doesn't want to wake him, but I tell her he won't mind. She very quietly walks over and kisses him on the forehead. He wakes up long enough to say,
"I'm glad you're safe. I love you."
She smiles, grabs a blanket from her room, and snuggles up to Dean. It's late, so I tell them goodnight and head to bed. Dean says,
"Thanks, Sammy."
That's all I need to have a good sleep tonight.
