"Come on, Sam, it'll be fun."
I hold the game labeled a child's game out to my boyfriend as he shakes his head. He almost yells as he responds,
"It's dangerous, Kait. It's labeled as a kid game but it ain't. At all. Plus, I have only used one of those things once when..."
He trails off and I look down, then Dean walks in from the kitchen and finishes,
"When I was dying after a demon driven semi slammed into us back when Dad was alive."
Sam looks at Dean, tears in his eyes, and back at me. He declares,
"I did it once, but I won't do it again. That was a last resort, I was desperate. I had to try to save my brother's life."
I understand his plight, but am still determined to have some fun. I argue,
"Sam, come on. Dean's safe, there's no risk in doing this."
He scoffs,
"Hun, there's always a risk when doing this, when dealing with the paranormal in general. I won't play it, Kait. I'm sorry."
I place the game on the table and go sit on the couch with the boys. Dean announces to us,
"Maybe Kait's right, let's just play it. I mean, hell, Sam, we know how to kill demons if one is conjured."
Sam teases,
"It'll be like a freakin slumber party."
Dean chuckles lightly and nods his head. I ask,
"So, are we gonna do this?"
Dean agrees, and asks,
"Sam?"
Sam reluctantly nods his head,
"Fine. One time."
I smile and get the board out of the box. It's your basic wooden Ouija board, with one planchette. I put it in the middle of the table and also place the planchette on the "hello" spot. We all three place our hands on the planchette and I feel Sam shiver. He withdraws his hand and says to us,
"I can't do it. Y'all go ahead, I'm gonna take a jog."
He walks off and I look at Dean, who's staring off where Sam was. He gets up, and instructs,
"Say goodbye. NEVER forget that."
I remind him,
"We never truly started. I never even asked a question."
Dean nods, and warns,
"Just say goodbye in case anything came through. I gotta go check on him."
He walks off quickly and I say "goodbye" to the air and follow him. Dean's out the door and in the Impala by the time I get outside. He sees me and I run to the driver's side to say,
"Dean, he's gone for a jog. Do we need to drive?"
He shows me a blip on his phone that he's been holding and says,
"He's on the bridge about two miles from here. We're driving. The ouija board may have triggered him."
I ask as I get in the passenger's side,
"How?"
As soon as I shut the door, he takes off and responds,
"Well, he has PTSD from a lot of things, one being that car wreck. Because I technically died at the hospital. He felt my presence there and that's when he used the ouija board. Like he said, last resort. It's hard to explain, we just need to get to him."

We drive til we see him running on the side of the bridge with no traffic, and he looks behind him. He waves and Dean parks right there a few feet behind Sam. Dean gets out, halfway running to his brother. I watch as Sam hugs him, a real brotherly hug that I rarely see. They both get in the Impala and we go back to the Bunker. I'm in the back now hugging my boyfriend and apologizing. He forgives me and we never play that PTSD triggering game again.
