Opening the closed door after settling the internal conflict, Rukmini was surprised to see Mayurika waiting patiently outside, with worry etched on her beautiful face.
The dried stains of tears on Rukmini's face didn't go unnoticed by Mayurika nor did the scroll tied with the red clothe. A comfortable and understanding silence took over the atmosphere.
With a heavy stone on her heart, Rukmini embraced Mayurika tightly as Mayurika patted her back so as to give a bit of consolation.
A thousand words were exchanged between them through these actions. Rukmini, wiping the newly forming tears away, said, her voice sour "Mayuri, I need to see Sunanda."
"As you wish." A reply came from Mayurika as confusion lingered in her mind.
After feeling kind of refreshed after washing her face with the cool water, Rukmini patiently waited sitting on the Diwan court still holding the scroll, securely in her hands.
"Hail Rajkumari" Sunanda said as he bowed before Rukmini. He is one of the most trusted person in Rukmini's life equal to her family and sakhis and hence she have chosen him to accomplish this risky task.
Rukmini stood up, her heart beating faster than ever. Mayurika was right beside her along with Sudhavati and Charurekha. Looking around to see if any of her brothers or father or any of their trusted acquaintances are near, she walked to Sunanda.
"Sunanda..." Her voice shaking a bit as she hands the scroll to him making him a bit confused due to the uncertain atmosphere.
"This letter, you have to give to Krishna of Dwaraka on my behalf, hurriedly as I don't have much time with me." Her voice was as low as it could get.
Mayurika, Sudhavati and Charurekha became shocked by the words Rukmini just uttered out. Charurekha with dragged herself towards Rukmini and placed her hands on Rukmini's shoulder.
"Are you sure about this?" There was a tone of warning in them.
"There's nothing I can do in this situation, for they have left me no choice but to rebel." Rukmini said placing her hand above Charurekha's hand as an assuring gesture.
"Sunanda, I trust you on this. If you fail in this mission, then the next time when you see me, i would have transformed into a complete yogini." She said with a slight smile, tired by everything.
Sunanda, with determined steps, exited the luxuries of palace and mounted himself on his horse not waiting for the arrival of a carriage as he grasped the seriousness and importance of the situation. Rukmini from the huge window, looked on as the horse galloped away, keeping her hands close to her heart.
She sighed and sat on the window as a new ray of hope took birth in her mind. She stood up, with an energy newly found and went out of her room.
