They went towards the lake and sat under a tall and wide Birch tree. Not many people were around so they had nearly the whole place to themselves. Virgo took out a stray piece of parchment and absentmindedly started doodling on it. Draco looked over his shoulder in curiosity and smacked his shoulder when he saw what he was drawing. "ouch that hurt. What was that for?" Virgo whined. Draco raised both his eyebrows at him and said sardonically, "oh nothing at all except for the fact you were drawing me and Granger in a huge heart." Virgo smirked (he had the same smirk as Draco) and laughed, "what can I say? You guys are interesting." That guy didn't even have an ounce of shame for trying to 'track' our relationship like it was one out of some romantic book. He was such a romantic. "anything new for you?" Draco asked. Virgo laughed again and said, "well nothing much except Professor Snape made me clean the Potions Dungeon because I combined blood of manticore and a spike of blibbering blubberfish. So it resulted in an explosion, a colourful one at that." He winked. Huh, no wonder Professor Snape seemed to resent him. The Professor cared for nothing more than a clean Potions lab and always curled his lip into a sneer at anyone who messed it up. If it was a huge mess up like Virgo's congratulations, you win a grudge from him. "don't worry, if you do well for potions and don't mess up anything else, he'll begin liking you again." Virgo giggled, "although I must say it was hilarious watching him blow up. I thought steam was going to emit from his ears.
Draco laughed again. it had been so long since he and Virgo had spent quality time together. His brother knew about him getting an offer of Death Eater. Virgo straightened up and his face got serious. "so lets get out the big fat pink elephant in the room. Did. You. Tell. Her?" he stared right into my face and asked. I sighed and told him about what she had told me and how technically if their thing worked out they could protect other people from the same fate. And after telling him all that he ended with, "and really 'the big fat pink elephant'? seriously? How old are you?" Virgo smirked and said in a mock deep voice as if he was a philosopher, "my dear child this is a truth that you are yet to learn. We are all children in here." And pointed to his heart. Draco pursed his lips and sarcastically said, "ah yes Mr hundred-year-old philosopher I am but a child." Virgo shoved him and
they continued playing with each other till later.
Hermione's POV at Gryffindor Tower after Virgo was with Draco
"oh my god! What do I do for his birthday? I'm not some party planner or anything. But he wouldn't want me to stress so much and OH MY GOD I sound like a lovestruck teenager. Chill out Hermione. It's ok. I can just do something small and simple because let's face it, after having yearly extravaganzas for your birthday anyone would be tired of it. I can just do something small that makes an impact. And he would probably laugh at me for stressing anyway. This isn't an exam, it's just someone's birthday." Hermione was telling herself. It wasn't a big deal. For now though, she needed the one person who knew Draco the best. Virgo.
"hey, so I kind of need some help?" she asked him later near the Lake. He saw her blushing crimson and mock bowed, "what may I be of service for your highness?" she smacked him on the arm and said, "you know I don't like being called that. Besides, I need a favour. And do Not laugh." I hurriedly asked him and he smiled, looking like he was suppressing his laughter. He said, "well, I don't really know but I think he might like something like a picnic?" she smiled, "yeah that was what I was thinking of." Virgo said, "a picnic it is! Choose a good spot!" and then he left. She got up and decided to take her mind of things, like Voldemort and all this. She made her way to the tower once more and sat down to knit some hats. It had become a random pastime ever since she had knitted some in the second year.
Fast forward to Draco's birthday
Draco's POV
He woke up with a goofy sort of smile, but couldn't remember why? Oh yes, it was his birthday. Normally it wasn't a big deal cos he was still at school and it usually hit around the exam time of year, though with the tournament the exams had been moved to a different day. He decided to have a quick flight since he was already up so early. He went to the broom-shed and decided to fly. But with his broom was a note. 'meet me at the spot by the lake'. Since it was in Hermione's handwriting, he assumed it was the spot he had taken her to on valentines' day. He got on his broom and flew there. In the middle of the clearing, there was Hermione. She was sitting there and waiting for him to come. "hey." She smiled when he saw her. "since its your birthday, I was wondering if you wanted to try something." He was a little mystified upon seeing the long pole with string on it. "uh what's that? Is it some mode of destruction?" he asked.
"no silly! It's a muggle thing. That's a fishing pole. We use it to catch fish." He was a little stunned that muggles caught their own fish but decided to try it out. "um ok then." She taught him how to hold it and reel in the fish. Unfortunately, he ended up tangling himself in the line, with her laughing and being of no help. She untangled him and then he started getting the hang of it! Once when he got hold of a really big fish he exclaimed, "Look! I've got it Granger! I Splash!" That was because he fell into the lake. Hermione nearly laughed herself silly, while Draco was getting out, sopping wet. He took his wand and muttered a spell to dry himself. "Well, well, well, so we finally found something you're not good at." She smirked. And all of a sudden she cracked up at seeing Draco wet. He was a bit mad and then saw the hilarity of the situation and joined in. They both laughed for a good five minutes and then cooked the fish with the bluebell flames Hermione was famous for. All in all it was a minimalist but a great birthday. When they went back to Hogwarts via broom (Hermione had been very adamant against it but Draco had made her get on) they put his broom back and acciod the other muggle things. When they were in the middle of a nice long kiss, the ever-annoying wart of a brother called Virgo popped up and interrupted. "My young brother. Finally getting a girl. He's all grown up. I'm so proud." He brushed away fake tears. They both slapped him on each shoulder.
