Hi, sorry for not updating for so long :(. to make up, I have written a few more chapters.
The week passed by fast. It was funny that when you were anticipating something time was so slow but when you were scared of something going to happen time whooshed by. Before she knew it, the few days before Valentines day had come. Oh bother! She would have to now hear the screams and squeals of girls when they were asked out in the corridor or. Luckily, Draco didn't ask her out. He probably knew she wouldn't want it. Everyone was dealing with nerves too. Harry wanted to ask Cho and Ron wanted to ask Fleur. They were bundles of nerves again. In the end though, they decided to stay at Hogwarts and have fun.
Valentines day finally came. She wasn't looking forward to it. Everyone left early for Hogsmeade and she went to the room to study. There, was Draco who said, "Come on. I've got a surprise to show you!" he blindfolded Hermione and led her somewhere. When she opened the blindfold, she saw the cutest creatures ever. Thestrals! They were fleshy, and to some ugly but absolutely adorable to Hermione. She squealed very uncharacteristically and hugged Draco so much the force brought him to the ground. He patted her on the back, laughing and said, "I have some meat from the kitchen. Wanna feed them?" She took the meat and held it out to the first thestral. Unlike what she thought it would do, it nuzzled her gently and took it. Soon, all the thestrals were near her, butting her hands with their heads. It was so nice! This was such a good day and it wasn't even extravagant. It was a simple day with two people petting CUTE thestrals. (but Draco was cuter ;))
Draco's POV
When he saw Granger go crazy for the thestrals, he laughed. She was so unpredictable and was having so much fun with them. When she saw him doubling over in laughter, she took a piece of meat and threw it to him. All the thestrals went towards him and took him off his feet. "Hey Granger, you don't play fair!" he protested. "Well, I learnt from the best!" she said, her eyes glinting.
They played with the thestrals until the evening and Hermione still didn't want to go. She was so stubborn. He had to drag her along to the school gates.
He didn't expect her to like it so much. Hermione pulled him into a kiss in the corridor outside the Gryffindor common room and thanked him. "Draco you don't have to be so unsure of yourself, you have great ideas and I know you were scared about this. So don't be so afraid to try your own thing." That made Draco think and smile. They still had an hour so he could take her on a ride. "come on. We're going to follow your advice." He took her to the broom shed and took his broom. "no, no, NO Draco I am NOT getting on a broom! You know I hate flying!". "C'mon It'll be great. Remember Granger 'don't be afraid to try a new thing!'"
Hermione's POV
"you- I- what" she was rendered speechless by him using her own words against her. "hah! I must be the only person in the world to render you speechless!" he relished the moment and she playfully slapped him. "Try it. It's nice." He said. How on earth could she try this? She was sosososo scared of heights! "do you trust me?" he asked, holding his hand out. After a few seconds of hesitation, she took it and said, "yes." (Aladdin reference <3) He helped her onto the broom, and she closed her eyes and buried her faceinto his back when he took off. In all fairness it was exhilarating. But when he went too fast just to tease her it was scary. She wouldn't have been able to enjoy it if Draco hadn't removed her face from his back. She could see Hogwarts from a different perspective. She could see the tops of the pine trees and then Draco descended into a small secluded spot. Hermione picked up sounds of a stream gurgling and then Draco stopped and helped her down. "I thought this was a good spot. It's a part of the Forbidden forest not many people know of. It's nice, right?" He said.
It looked so pretty, it even had light shining through and she didn't know that something so dark could have such a beautiful heart. That kind of applied to Draco too. On the outside, he was cold and cruel but in reality, he was kind, caring, helpful and cute <3. Wow that was so deep. It was true that you learnt lessons in the unlikeliest of places. they sat on the sand and talked and laughed, like they didn't have a care in the world. They went back to Hogwarts by broom and for once Hermione didn't feel scared of heights. She only saw the beauty of the scenery. Amazing how one could change her perspective of something so fast.
