At Hogsmeade a few days later...

Virgo had agreed to meet Hermione at the shrieking shack at 2 o'clock. He was on time again but had brought along some unsatisfactory company. "Ugh I didn't know you were bringing him." Hermione's voice reeked of disgust at the sight of Draco Malfoy.

"Hmml I don't think you've probably been erring acquainted. You see, um, Draco has changed from the last time." Virgo awkwardly broke the silence. "I realised you guys err didn't properly understand each other."

"Well dummy, I'm sorry that you weren't informed but me and Granger know plenty about each other and have no interest in spending the day with one-another." Draco interrupted. Hermione had never seen this fun; playful side of Draco Malfoy before. He had always been so cold and stoic towards her! Maybe this would turn out better than she had thought it would. Besides, if Draco Malfoy acted as the ferret he was, she could still talk with Virgo, clearly the more sophisticated and charming Malfoy who shared many similar ideas with her.

Well, that's what she did. Apart from their meeting with one another, he continued to be his pompous annoying self. Well, that was alright with her. They roamed some shops together (her and Virgo) and had far too many things to discuss about topics ranging from current affairs to society in general. This was one person whom she could share her views with. Not that she couldn't with Harry and Ron, they just weren't too keen to listen and were more interested in Quidditch or something like that. Also, they didn't really enjoy the same things as she did, like Ancient Runes or Arithmetic.

To Hermione's surprise and chagrin, Draco Malfoy did join in a few of their discussions and gave some helpful insight and made her think of things she thought weren't in his tiny brain. No doubt he was smart, she just took a bit more time to realise that. Actually, the two brothers complemented each other quite well; Virgo was the easy-going person that got along with people quite well, he was the one who subtly enhanced people's views; whereas Draco was the haughty sort with a tongue that was as sharp as a whip and made his point quite clear. In short, they are complete and utter opposites which Hermione found quite refreshing. She enjoyed Virgo's taunts and ideas; it was refreshing to her.

The 'trio' went to the three broomsticks to escape the cold and get a warm Butterbeer. There, Hermione spotted Harry, of all people. He would find out she wasn't in fact in the library and then accuse her of a billion different things, all while trying to protect her. Please, Hermione was a grown witch and could take care of herself perfectly well. So, she did her best to hide from Harry and somehow managed it.

"Phew!" she sighed as she filled Virgo and Draco in about what happened. Virgo, of course, was kind about the situation and understood and sympathised with her intentions. But Draco, OBVIOUSLY was going to give her a biting retort. Honestly, she mentally slapped herself at the thought that he would be NICE to her. Virgo's good naturalness must be rubbing off her. "Granger, we know you had a problem with Potter and clearly, everyone does too (she rolled her eyes) but you do not have to drag us away from our drinks."

"He must be the only person on this planet who argues with whatever I say!" Hermione muttered. At any rate she was tired of his snappy retorts. So, she moved on to a different topic.

"We should get back to Hogwarts, it's getting late. Besides, I heard Dumbledore's making a special announcement." The following discussion that led them back to school was what the announcement could be. After a long trudge uphill, they entered the great hall, which was abuzz with excitement. Quickly, Hermione re-joined Harry and Ron, casually asking them how their day had been.

"Hermione, you went to Hogsmeade didn't you? You just came in and I didn't see you anywhere else." Harry questioned her. Struggling to come up with a good excuse, Hermione remained silent for a couple of minutes. Finally, "You see, I was working on the essay Snape gave us about moonstones and I ran out of ink, so I went down to Hogsmeade to buy more. That's all. Besides, I was only there for less than an hour and I didn't want to disturb you." Thank goodness she had come up with something solid. With nothing more than a slightly hesitant glance, Harry stopped questioning her. Phew! She had had way too many close calls today.

After dinner was over, Professor Dumbledore made a startling announcement, the TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT would be held AT HOGWARTS! Hermione had read way too many gruesome deaths that had been due to this tournament. As she tried to reason with the long queue of people chattering amicably about entering the competition, she tried to tell her friends it was too dangerous. Boys! They simply couldn't stop thinking about the glory they would achieve from any menial task they did. However, this was no menial task. People's lives could be at risk here. And all they talked about was the prize money.

Shortly before bed, she accidentally met both Malfoys near the stairway. Blushing quite a bit around both of them, she finally mumbled, "Thanks for today....I really needed it."

Virgo's POV

As he bumped into the brown, bushy haired Hermione Granger, he realised he, not on purpose, had been constantly thinking about her after their Hogsmeade visit. Sure, she was pretty, and he had met a few to many pretty girls, but she had something different. From what he saw today, she seemed pretty annoyed by most guys and clearly wasn't charmed by any of them. He could safely say that because his brother, the most charming guy ever (apart from himself of course), had absolutely no effect on Hermione Granger. She didn't even spare him a proper glance throughout their trip. Not that he was checking.

"Virgo? Virgo?!" Virgo jammed out of his thoughts as his brother brought him back to reality with a slap in the face. Moaning a little, he let out an Ow! "Hermione was just talking about how we should do this more often." His idiot of a brother said. At this, Virgo's heart fluttered ever so slightly. She liked spending time with him. This was great. When they reached the Slytherin dorm, Draco began to moan about how he couldn't go to the Triwizard tournament because he wasn't of age. Not that Virgo listened. Luckily, time passed quite fast.

Virgo's first week passed surprisingly fast and soon, it was the weekend, and the date they would be hosting the students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. Virgo, along with many other Hogwarts students had come to their arrival. He and Draco were already quite familiar with a few Durmstrang students. Their school specialised in Dark Arts and had been very competitive. They knew this as this school had been their Father's first choice for them, but their mother had persuaded him to let them attend Hogwarts instead. On the other hand, Durmstrang was a popular school because one of the world's greatest Quidditch players attended it...Viktor Krum.

He was one of those guys who all the girls loved. He just had that kind of aura around him. When Durmstrang made their spectacular entry, all eyes were on Viktor Krum. Soon after, the pupils of the French school Beauxbatons waltzed in, and all eyes turned at their beauty. The boys' in awe and the girls' in awe or jealousy. The girls from there were flawless. Many of them had sleek shiny hair and moved with the grace of a swan. Virgo turned to look at the effect they had on Draco, and he seemed unperturbed.

Draco's POV

As the girls from Beaux Batons came in his heart didn't even beat slightly faster. In his life, he had already seen many pretty girls, so his face had no change. It wasn't like being pretty made you special anyway, he thought. Take Pansy for instance. So many Slytherins wanted to ask her out, but she had to cling onto him it was so annoying. In all honesty, in his eyes, girls were annoying in general. I mean, he had met so many annoying girls, like Granger. Always the teacher's pet, with her hand up in every class. Not to mention the fact she slapped him in their 3rd year. Also, she had an annoying opinion of everything and contradicted him as much as she could. Why couldn't she be like other girls and just go along with what he said, after one look from him. Merlin's pants, that girl was the most infuriating human being ever.

Anyway, as Draco had been absorbed in his thoughts, he was jerked out of them by Blaise Zabini, the closest thing he had to a best friend, who was nudging him that Dumbledore was going to make the announcement about who would be taking part in the Triwizard Tournament. Dumbledore went on about the honour and yadayadayada and said who would take part in the tournament for Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. Finally, he came to Hogwarts. "And our Hogwarts champion will be, Cedric Diggory!" the old coot droned. Secretly though, Draco respected the old man very much. Only Dumbledore knew that of course. Ugh, of course it would be Golden Boy Diggory. Suddenly though, a blast of red light startled everyone, and another name came out of the Goblet. HARRY POTTER! of course it would be Mr Incredible Scarhead. Only he would do something that preposterous like that. Dumbledore immediately became serious and motioned for Potter to follow him.
