The Halstead's (Linstead)

~ Chapter 12 ~

     Today was the day Erin was being released. They signed the discharge papers and headed home.
     "Babe, are you okay? You have hardly said a word since we found out you're pregnant." Jay said as he drove in the snowy weather.
      With tears in her eyes, Erin turned to him and said, "I just...I can't believe I'm pregnant. There's a baby inside of me. I should've know. I mean I had that terrible dream where I was pregnant. I should have known that was a sign. Then maybe our baby wouldn't be in danger."
     "Erin listen to me. You and our baby are both going to be fine. We will get back to work and this will be the fastest seven and a half months ever."
     A few days later, Lindsay was finally released to get back to work. When they walked upstairs at the district and into the bullpen, Hank asked to see Erin and Jay in his office.
     "What's up? Jay asked Hank.
     "I wanted to congratulate you both on your little one. I can't wait to be a grandpa again." Hank said as he gave them both a hug. "Erin I know you aren't going to like this, but I want you to be safe, especially with all the risks. You can still go out on cases with the unit, but there will be restrictions. Number one, you will go on desk duty the second myself or the doctor says so. Number two, you will be the last to make entry and it will be only after we have cleared everything. Number three, the second there are any signs of problems with you, the baby, or the pregnancy, you're done. Is that clear?" Hank asked Erin sternly, both as her boss and as her father.
     "Yes, sarge," she replied.
     "Halstead, do you have anything to add?" He asked Jay.
     "No, sir, I think you've got it covered. The only thing I want to say is that she is honest with us. No hiding pain or injuries, not even heart burn," He said winking at his wife.
     "Wow, you guys aren't over protective or anything," Lindsay said sarcastically as they walked out of Voight's office to join the rest of the team and start a new case.
