The days and weeks came and went. Lindsay was extremely annoyed that Voight put so many restrictions on her at work. Even though she understood and it was her priority to keep her baby safe, she just wanted to do her job.
Late one evening after a long day at work, Jay and Erin laid in bed together with their arms wrapped around each other. Erin's head comfortably rested on Jay's chest. Jay then reached over and put his hand on his wife's stomach.
"What if I'm not a good mom?" Erin said to Jay.
"Babe, you'll be a great mom," Jay told her sweetly as he leaned lower to kiss her.
"My mom was a terrible mother who taught me nothing about what it's like to be a good parent. You are having a baby with a former drug addict. I'm just not sure it's possible for me to be good at parenting."
"I know we didn't plan this, but I know you'll be a great mom, because you are such a good person. You are an amazing wife and an amazing detective who will be a perfect role model for our son or daughter. Plus, you had Camille in your life as a great example. There's no one else I'd rather raise kids with than you. I cannot wait."
"What if something bad happens to him and I can't protect him?" She asked Jay.
"Him huh?" He smiled gleefully as he kissed her stomach. "Babe, there's always that possibility. Whatever is in God's plan, we will make the absolute best of it. He...or she...will be cute, will be taken care of, will be loved, and will be happy. Ultimately, that's all that matters. Everything will work out." He said as his grin couldn't have been bigger.
Jay always knew what to do or say to make Erin feel better. Better yet, he meant it.
