Things were finally starting to get back to normal. Jay had fully recovered and was returning back to work today.
"Good morning, Jay Halstead!" His wife said as he slowly rolled over in bed. "I've got breakfast ready for you. I can't wait to finally have my partner back."
"What? You mean don't like having Ruzek as you partner?" Jay said laughing.
"Well I mean it's not horrible. He's a good detective, except he's about to make me crazy. I'm just ready to have my husband back."
Jay and Erin climbed the stairs into the district and buzzed themselves in. Everyone turned and greeted them, happy to have their friend back at work.
Hank walked out of his office, "Halstead, welcome back. Everyone listen up. We have a new case and it's going to be a tough one," Hank then put a picture of a five year old up on the board. "Timothy Masters, five years old, was brutally murdered early this morning. His parents called the police late last night filing a report that their son was missing."
"Why didn't we hear about it then?" Atwater asked.
"It was out of our jurisdiction, so their local police handled it. When the boy was found this morning, he was found a block from our station, so we are taking over the case. Let's head out," Hank said.
Jay and Erin sadly looked at each other, grabbed their coats, and walked out with the rest of the unit. They knew this would be a hard one.
