"Congratulations! You're having a boy. He is perfectly healthy," the doctor said.
"Awe, a boy! Yes!" Jay said.
"So if he's healthy, what's with all the concerned looks?" Erin curiously asked.
"We are concerned about what looks to be scar tissue, which is a result of the chemical accident," the doctor said, "This is a complication we were worried about."
"What does that mean exactly?" Jay asked.
"As of right now, you're having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. There are a few extra precautions we need to take. Most importantly, though, you won't be able to deliver naturally. I'm afraid a c-section is necessary in order to protect you and the baby."
Erin was shocked. No expectant mother wants to hear that there is only one option when it comes to delivery. The most important thing is that their baby was okay.
"Thank you, doctor," they said in unison.
The ride to the district seemed tense. She was heartbroken with the news.
     "I'm sorry," she told Jay.
"For what?" he asked, floored as to why she would be apologizing.
"For putting our baby in these horrible situations. Bad things keep happening to us," Erin said.
"Babe none of this is not your fault. It's not like you planned it. You put your life on the line every day in order to protect the citizens of this city. We have always known that there are risks. The most important thing is that you and our baby are both fine. We will get through this and we will have a sweet little baby boy at the end," He said as he leaned over and kissed her softly.
