~ Chapter 19 ~

Today was the day!
     Erin and Jay were so excited to find out their baby's gender, but also extremely anxious to get an update on the baby's progression. They really wanted to make sure everything was healthy with what Erin and the baby had been through.
     They both walked swiftly into the doctors office holding hands. They patiently, or impatiently, waited in the waiting room and about an hour later, they were called into a boring room. The tech eventually came in and put the cold gel on Erin's stomach. Still Holding hands, they were anxious, but excited.
     "There it is. There is the heartbeat," the tech said.
     The happy couple couldn't have been more thrilled. Suddenly, the tech's demeanor changed. She went from smiling to serious in a matter of seconds. Something felt off. Jay and Erin looked at each other like they were in a hostage situation.
     "Is something wrong?" Erin asked.
     "Let me go get the doctor," she said.
     Erin's heart was racing and a cold sweat began to shine on her face.
     Is something wrong with their sweet, innocent child?
