Everyone sat minding their own business and Morgan watched Nigel from the distance. She sighed and Mina's voice engaged in conversation with her.
"It is nice to see them together again, wouldn't you say?"
Morgan just nodded silently, "He is different around her."
"Of course. When this all started, Evelyn would not stop talking about Nigel. She prayed he would still be alive and fate would have them meet again," Mina smiled.
"I thought she was dead," Morgan muttered.
Mina heard and explained.
"There was no other option. I was already in deep when the events surrounding Evelyn in Denver took place. She was a sweet girl and everyone loved her. Nigel and her were the strongest pair there was. However, while searching through my old computer, she managed to uncover confidential information regarding my role and information. That was when the government intervened and were about to erase her memory when I stopped them saying I would not help if she was harmed. They obliged and she was taken to Beijing to live with me. I didn't realize she left the message to Nigel until she told me. She didn't believe that what was happening was right, but I guess in an already corrupted world, what truly is right?"
Morgan nodded again feeling numb. Evelyn and Nigel were laughing together. Evelyn whispered in his ear and he broke out into a smile hugging her.
Unable to watch anymore, Morgan stood sitting with Tracy, Bill and Flint. They eyed their leader cautiously.
"So..." Bill said trying to make conversation, "Nigel huh? Who knew he had a secret lover."
"Let him be happy," Morgan's voice cracked, "He deserves this."
She bowed her head in silence then shook her head. It was only a matter of time before more weather would arrive. She needed to remain one step ahead in order to keep her teammates safe.
"We chart our course to Paris to find out what happened at that climate summit," Morgan established avoiding Nigel and Evelyn who were off to the side.
"Morgan," Tracy frowned, "Maybe you should sit and calm down."
Morgan pulled her hand away, "The end of the world waits for no one."
She eyed the entrance to the sub level of the laboratory.
"We're with you," Flint supported and Bill flanked her side.
Morgan smiled happy to see her team mates would still follow her. She looked at Tracy.
"Tracy, I can't do this without you," Morgan said honestly.
A long pause from Tracy before she smiled, "Of course."
The four looked at Nigel, Evelyn and Mina who were talking to each other. Morgan felt a lump in her throat and turned away.
"What about Nigel?" Flint asked, "And Evelyn and Mina?"
"Let them do their own thing," Morgan said bitterly, "It's not like we needed him."
Bill and Flint exchanged troubled looks. They noticed how Nigel's former love resurfacing had affected their leader.
"Are you already leaving?" Mina asked watching Morgan.
She noticed Morgan's strange behaviour and caught the small glances the seventeen-year-old made towards Evelyn and Nigel. She took a mental note of Nigel throwing occasional glances to his teammate as well.
"The faster we get to the climate summit in Paris, the sooner this nightmare can be over," Morgan reasoned.
"You're being too hasty," Nigel said causing Morgan to look at him.
