Summer came. I pretended to be oblivious.

O, the pain of knowing.

I now noticed how they took more care with me, how they calculate their steps, and how they soften the tones of their voice than the usual way they talk to me.

I noticed the sometimes-puffy eyes Father and Mother bore, how mother never let go of her rosary that it indented marks on her skin as her body grew slimmer along with father.

Benjamin was writing frequently that Aldrich sometimes gets jealous that I let him read it which he denies.

The days have been meaningful as I treat it that way. I cherish every moment like I'd be gone the second I blink. I give hellos as farewells. I've decided to live like that.

I've been readying myself for I might never know what may happen in the near future, if I do have one. I've already written letters to my love ones if in any case I suddenly went.

I asked them to set every important event of my life near Paris. I wanted it to remind me that life is the seasons. A season to grow the leaves, a season to bloom the flowers, and a season to shed them altogether.

The wedding date came closer and I was glad that Aldrich was strong even though he knew of my condition he never let me feel inadequate. Whenever I look at him, I feel like everything will be fine. I knew it was wrong to depend to much on him but not once have I seen him loose hope. He's not a rock I lean on and grow stagnant he's him that I walk with towards where ever I am heading.

I went to the town with Oceane and Scarlette. They wanted to accompany me as I check my wedding dress design for final touches.

The door to the boutique opened with a ping. The people inside diverted their attention to us except one. She kept staring and I was shocked to see her alone. She hates being alone. As soon as the fact that I was there too sunk in she bolted towards the door with her head down.

"I'll never understand why she does that to you." Oceane muttered as she heads towards the rack of dresses.

"She might come around." Scarlette placed a hand on my shoulders as she said this before she followed Oceane.

I had finally seen the dress. It was white lacy a-line dress with flounce sleeves and a frilly collar brushing against my chin. The corset was embroidered with intricacy along with the hem that reaches the the floor.

"It's perfect Adellyne." Oceane and Scarlette commended at the same time with a gasp.

"Aren't you going to return home already and surprise your future spouse?" Oceane teased.

I bought a pocket watch that I had engraved a message for him. I waited for him but I don't expect him to. I wanted to remind him that in the right time he should forget about me.

After confirming the dress to the tailor, we went home earlier than expected as I myself wanted to surprise him.

The moment Winston opened the front door I fastened my steps knowing he's in the garden by the fountain.

I clutch the box in hand and was about to call his attention to make my presence known. I peeked behind the trees and saw Aldrich kneeling with his hands folded into a prayer. He was praying loud. The golden afternoon sun shone on his face and was wet with tears.

He was wailing in agony and so much pain that the excitement I held from earlier was whisked away like a strong gust of wind dragging the dust along its way

"Why? Why! Why would you do this to her? Why would you make her sick when you can't cure her?" He was quiet for a short while apart from the sniffling.

"Why would you take the woman I love, the woman I want to be with until I get to old to walk. Why now?" He broke down crying his heart out.

I slowly and silently went back inside the house and I sat at the stairs as I waited for him by the back porch. The most heartbreaking moment I had witnessed today was a strong person breaking because I am hopeless.

The sky was dark when he came back to enter the house.

"Were you waiting for me? What time have you arrived?" He asked me.

There were no traces of what I have witnessed earlier. His was bright and his eyes were a vibrant shade of blue. I caressed his cheek and smiled back.

"I just came back. I wanted to give you this." I gave the box.

"What's this?"

"A present. A wedding present."

"I'll give you yours on the day of our wedding."

"If you're pertaining to a ring as a replacement to the one you made for me then I don't want it." I asserted.

He chuckled and placed his arms around my shoulders.

"Let's go inside. The chilly air will blow soon."
