My tenth review, yay! Thanks so much for your requests!
Including Avindigrace ,whose novel, "You Don't Know Me", I am reviewing today.
Cover:The use of the fake glasses and moustache indicates that the girl's identity is deliberately hidden. This reveals that people see someone different because of the disguises instead who she truly is. It leads to the creation of false perceptions about her.
The message the cover sends makes to highly suitable for the title because one does not really know who the girl behind the masks is.
Blurb:
The blurb reveals who exactly Julian is and creates a contrast with who she pretends to be. It actually made me wonder how she is able to juggle both lifestyles, a question I'm sure will draw future readers into your book.
I do feel like revealing her secret side right in the blurb was not the best idea. It would have been nice for one to shocked by what really lies beneath the nerdy girl in one of the chapters.
Plot:
The sequence of events unravel Julian's nature even more. Prominent dialogue exhibits other characters and their traits. Julian's journey through university is quite relatable to a large number of your target audience.
Characters:
I like the duality Julian possesses. This makes her a highly intriguing character to the reader. This is because one is constantly thrust into different worlds through her eyes. I was excited to see how her personalities affect her relationship with Ashton.
Grammar:
I noticed you mentioned that English is not your first language so I encourage you to take note of certain areas which are quite problematic.
There were many typographical and grammatical mistakes. There also wasn't enough capitalisation and the punctuations were mainly misplaced.
The good news, however, is that there are many helpful apps which can tackle these problems. One of such is "Grammarly" and I believe it can be of great help!
You could also consider a trusted person who is adequately fluent in English to be your editor.
Generally,
Just because issues are shielding your book's true potential, it doesn't mean it's not there. These problems can be easily corrected and I can guarantee that once you use the right means, you book will reach higher heights.
