Everything Is Different- Izzex

Season 6 Episode 8

(Idk what this is it's just something that came into my head so I'm writing it down)
Izzie, who mostly just wonders around the hospital talking to Cristina and Alex when they have a free minute these days until Alex's shift ends, walked up to the NICU to find a sleeping Alex sitting in a chair without a shirt holding a little baby.
"Hey" she whispered in his ear.
"Uhm" he said, still half asleep. "What time is it?"
"Almost 1. Your shift ended almost an hour ago I've been looking for you."
"Oh sorry. I'm ready" he said as he put the baby back in her incubator.
"Sleep tight little one" he whispered to her.
Izzie couldn't help but smile.
He was so good with kids it almost amazed her.
"Here" Izzie said, handing Alex his coat.
"Let's go home" he said "I'm tired"
"I'll drive. Last thing we need is you falling asleep behind the wheel" Izzie said
"Burr it's cold out tonight" Izzie said as she walked out of the hospital
"Here" Alex said taking off his coat and putting it on top of her
"Alex it's fine" she said gesturing for him to put his coat back on even though it did feel rather nice and warm on her cold body.
"No Iz I'm okay just stay warm you don't want to catch anything right now" he said to her, accidentally reminding her that she still has cancer.
"Thanks" she said, giving him a faint smile.
They get into the car and Izzie cranks up the heat all the way and starts driving.
"So I was thinking..." she starts to say when she looks over to find Alex out cold.
"Never mind." She whispers to herself.
"I love you" she says softly to Alex.
When they finally get back to the trailer, Izzie debated on what to do.
Should she wake him up or let him sleep?
She knew that if she woke him up neither of them would end up getting much sleep.
But she decided to do it anyways so he didn't freeze to death.
"Hey sleepy head. We're home" she said as she tapped Alex on the shoulder.
"Ugh I'm so tired I could stay here all night" he said without opening his eyes
"Well I was gonna let you do that but I didn't want to listen to you complain tomorrow about how cold it was" she said in a kind of sarcastic way that made Alex let out a loud laugh.
They walked into the trailer and went straight to bed.
"Good night" Izzie said to Alex as she laid her head down on her pillow.
"Night" Alex said back.
"Iz..." Alex whispered
"Yeah?" She whispered back
"I love you" he said, leaning in towards her and giving her a kiss on the neck.
"I love you more" she said as she turned around and wrapped her arms around his body.
"That's not possible" he said back, with a little crooked smile, right before falling asleep in his sleeping wife's arms.
