Fred's hand was intertwined with mine. His skin was warm and mine was cold. It was comforting to feel him so close to me as we sat with our friends.
It felt even better to know that this was no longer just in my head.
Ron was looking at me and Fred with a look of confusion, he didn't exactly get what we meant by "together".
I waved my hand dramatically to get Ron to break his stare, "Take a picture, Ron! It'll last longer."
He shakes his head and rubs his eyes, "Sorry! Sorry! I just, when did this happen?"
He scratched his head and Fred began to laugh at his brother's confusion.
George slapped Ron on the back, "Anyone could've been able to tell a long time ago that they both were in their feelings, mate."
I laughed nervously and I noticed Fred blushing. Oh my gosh, he is too cute for his own good.
"Honestly Ronald, you've been around them for how long? Even I knew there was some tension." Hermione giggles and I give her a surprised look.
"Hermione!"
Hermione started laughing along with the rest of us but then she stopped when she looked towards the entrance.
We all turned to see Harry who looked at all of us.
Ron scoffed and looked down at his food. Harry looked away and headed towards Dean Thomas and Neville, sitting with them instead.
We turned back and I opened my mouth, not knowing if I wanted to start anything with Ron.
"You should really try to talk to him Ron." I say hesitantly and he glares at me.
"Easy mate." Fred glares back at him and I squeeze his hand.
"He hasn't bothered talking to me so why should I bother talking to him?" Ron snaps and I sigh.
"Well, the first task for the Tri-Wizard Tournament is tomorrow. He probably needs you." I suggest and Ron rolls his eyes.
"Harry doesn't need anyone but himself." Ron pouts and gets up, "I'll see you guys later." He takes off towards the exit.
"He'll get over it. He usually does." Hermione sighs, getting up and following him.
"Yikes!" George looks at me with wide eyes and I laugh at him, "Hey, I just speak the truth. Some people just can't handle it."
"Oh you speak the truth alright." Fred mumbles and I elbow him as he laughs.
When Fred and I left the Great Hall, we decided to go on a walk by ourselves. I mostly just had a lot of questions for Fred.
"Why didn't you tell me how you felt?" I asked and he smiled down at me.
"Well, probably for the same reason you didn't tell me. I didn't want to risk it." Fred admitted and I smiled.
"How long have you felt this way?" I asked another question and Fred chuckled at me.
"So many questions!"
"Well yeah! This is obviously new for us. Especially for us! Best mates to lovers is something that makes a girl wonder!" I defend myself and Fred stops walking, pulling me into him.
"Well, Madeline. If you must know, my feelings for you came as a surprise to me. I wasn't actually aware of them until our Potions class a few weeks ago," as he was explaining the story to me, he was rubbing his hands up down my back, sending chills across my skin.
