"[Name]! [Name]!"
A voice shouted out.

[Name] slammed her book shut and looked up front he tree she was sitting under; The shade provided her a cool place to read in peace.

She looked ahead to her cousin, running towards her. A smile crept on his face.

"Guess what! Mommy bought me a new toy train!"
He rambled out, excited.

[Name]'s lips formed into a frown, her cousin was no naive at the fact that he trusted their so called "mother" so easily.

He had been fortunate at the fact that his family had not been slaughtered in front of him.

When he looked up again, the scowl on [Name]'s face had been wiped clean.

"That's great Owen. Shouldn't you be playing with it now?"
She grit her teeth and kept the harshness away from her tone; The boy was too fragile for her to lash out at him.

She felt horrible really, having to hate him like this, but could anyone blame her? He was sitting here, blissfully unaware at what danger they sat beside, or not knowing the fate they had to share together.

She cursed her fake mother's obsessiveness. Because of that, she rejected any possibility of a future spouse outside her family and decided to wed the two cousins together, regardless of blood relation.

Owen, being the happy-go-lucky 10-year-old he was, just though he'd be with his cousin forever, not understanding the depth of her worlds, but [Name] did, and frankly, she was disgusted beyond words.

The contempt she held for her cousin was something she couldn't control, despite knowing it was by no means his fault. She just stayed silent and glowered at him in silence.

She thought for a second;

If she was able to escape, what about Owen? Would he be too late to save and end up falling in the clutches of their fake mother, or would she save him?

As much as she resented him, he was still her cousin; Her only blood member alive that she acknowledged.

Owen continued his ramblings, and he and [Name] walked back to the large mansion that they lived in. If she could escape, would she be willing to rescue him too?

[Name] didn't know. She would make it up later, she shrugged to herself...

If only she hadn't been so secretive. If she had though about Owen some more, she would've noticed how he was hurting as well, and he would still be alive to this day.
