As much as Mal was trying to protect her heart, it ruined our marriage. She knew she loved me. Mal knew she loved the way I loved her.
"I'm home!"
"Mama!" Chasity ran up to Mal hugging her leg. "Hi mamas babies! Hi!" She cooed.
"Let mama wash up and I'll be right down, ok?"
"I go with you, Mommy!"
"Ok, come on baby."
"Good evening Mal." I smiled watching her as she made her way into the house.
"Evening." She said dryly and continued to avoid any conversation with me.Shortly she came down with Chasity on her hip.
"Nyla, hi baby."
She was always quiet, most of the time Nyla would just smile and sometimes speak.
"Come here babygirl, let me hold you." Nyla laughed and hugged her mama. "I love you so much. I didn't forget about you Joey! Hi cutie pie! You are so cute looking like your daddy.""Where is my love?" I smiled sneaking a kiss.
"What if I run you a nice hot shower-"
"No thank you." She said playing with the kids and blatantly ignoring me.
"Fine..." My chest ached as I looked at Mal, she wouldn't even show me any affection or look me in the eyes. There was a knock at the door and I knew it was Jocelyn coming to pick up Joey. So, I quickly got up opening the door for her.
"Hey, how are you?" I asked as I followed behind her as she picked up Joey.
"I'm alright, also I need to talk business with you." She spun around looking at me with Joey on her hip.
"Ok, you want to go to my office?"
"Yes please."We walked to my office and I let her sit in my chair with Joey.
"Joey, going home with Mama? Already?"
He chuckled and raised his arms out to me. "Daddy's boy!" I smiled kissing his cheek.
"Ok, about the business thing..."
"Sounds bad, what is it?"
"They are asking for you because they don't want to hear it from me."
"Why is that? They giving you problems?"
"They just think I can't make those decisions because I don't have the power."
"Tell them, if I come up there I won't be very happy." I chuckled.
"I think you should come up there."
"I have other business to take care of. I don't have-"
"It's because I'm a woman!" Jocelyn shot from the chair looking at me with furrowed eyes.I looked at her and placed Joey in the chair. "I'll handle it. You tell them to meet me at the board at 10am. You won't go through this again."
"Thank you."
"Anything for you."
"Anything? Endless amount of your money and maybe another one of these?"
"Ok, time for you to go."
"I was just kidding."
"I know, but I'm a married man. Those types of jokes are not to be made. The money part was fine, but yea just no more."
"I'm sorry, that was wrong of me."
"It's alright, let me walk you out for tonight."We walked to the car and I held her upper back as she walked with Joey.
I kissed him goodbye and gave him his toy. "I love you baby boy! My first born..." I smiled ruffling his hair.
"Alright Jocelyn, he's in and ready to go. Be careful and Goodnight. Give him my kisses before bed."
"I will! See ya later!""So, what you guys talk about?" Mal sat on my lap looking at me. "Some assholes at the job telling her she doesn't have the power to make certain decisions for the company. Little do they know everything is ran by me for approval. So, I'm going up there to handle them. Wanna come?"
I wrapped my hand loosely around her waist.
"Sure!"
"Dress in something professional...Actually it's a Friday so you don't have to, but I would like for you to look good on my side while I'm in my suit."
"I'll put on a sexy dress and when you are done we can have some fun time." She smiled.
"Why are you suddenly all over me now?"
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing.."
She smiled looking me in the eyes, but as I looked back into her eyes they didn't show much. Mal was just trying to throw herself onto me after my conversation with Jocelyn. Typical because any other time she wouldn't even think about me unless she wanted to love or trying to seduce me in front of Jocelyn.
