I look up at the house, it's surrounded by plants and greenery, making it seem welcoming but looks can so often fool you into thinking one thing is another.

I've never trusted my eyes. They wish to see things that aren't there.

"Come on," mom says, nudging me gently and smiling, "it'll be fun!" She says and I nod.

I step out of the car and grab my things from the trunk.

"I love you, and remember, if you ever wanna come back just call me." My mom gives me a kiss on the forehead before getting back in the car and waving.

I wave back and make my way towards the house.

My dad opens the door, a wide grin on his face.

"Hey honey! How've ya been?" He asks, planting a kiss on the top of my head. I lean into the warm hug he's giving me and take a sigh of relief.

My mom is smart, she believes in fact and has never had much time for creativity and daydreaming, my father on the other hand is the complete opposite.

He loves dreaming so much he turned it into a profession. He's an author for best selling novels and he passed the dreaming gene down to me, and the music gene came from my grandmother.

On my mothers side surprisingly.

"Great dad. I have been accepted into the music program and I have escaped the clutches of the good knowledgeable witch, also known as my mother and now I'm in the land of dreams and music. Where fairies rule supreme!" I say.

My father always loved the way I talked, he said that when I was a baby I must have drank from the moon or had fairy dust sprinkled in my bottle because he had never encountered some in quite like me.

When I was six he told me that he had always believed in magic but had never really seen it until I was born.

I am his magic.

"Well your room is right upstairs. I redecorated it for you, but you can change it up if you'd like." He says.

This summer my father moved from the home I grew up in to this new one. He was going for the one next door but they didn't end up selling so he just settled for this one.

I walk into the room and look around, I have a balcony.

The walls are a dark blue, on one empty wall there is a dandelion painted there, the seeds flying off it and turning into stars, forming constellations on my ceiling.

There's a hanging chair in the corner and a window over my bed, looking down on the street and up in the night sky.

The bedding has little music notes on it, like musical stars.

"I love it." I say, a smile on my face as I turn to face my father.

"Yes!" He cheers, turning and humming the rocky theme song. I laugh as he leaves me to get unpacked.

Time skip

I'm sitting on the couch, reading a book with my legs hanging over the side when the doorbell rings.

"Dad! Someone's at the door!" I call.

"Can you get it?"

"Sure!"

I go and open the girl to see a girl standing there. She's just standing there awkward inspecting her hands.

When the door opens she looks up and smiles awkwardly.
