I hear a noise downstairs and I (cautiously, with my pepper spray) go and check it out.

When I get downstairs my mom is in the kitchen, making some pancakes.

"What are you doing here?" I ask her.

"Well this is my house." She says.

"No like- you're never here. Why are here now?" I ask her.

"Well I got a break off of work and Eddie is out of town for the weekend. So I thought we would have a girls weekend." She says.

Mom has her faults but she was good to talk to. And when she was gone all I had to do was call her and she would be there as soon as she could.

"That sounds nice." I say.

She claps her hands and goes back to her pancakes.

We spend the day eating junk food and watching movies.

"So, any cute boys?" She asks me, "or girls."

"Nope. Neither." I say.

"What's going on with you?"

"What do you mean?" I ask her, playing with the bracelet on my wrist.

"You know what I mean. You're keeping something from me." She says.

"I um so- do you remember last time we had one of these weekends and I told you about that guy?"

"Of course." Mom remembered everything.

"Well we dated for six months, as you know, and then a few weeks ago he started being all distant and then we broke up." I say.

"What? I thought you really liked him?"

"I did it just-there were a lot of factors and he-he just needs to-to figure some things out with himself but even then I don't know if I could give him another chance." I say.

"Honey. Look at me." She says, lifting my chin, "boys make mistakes, they say stupid stuff, and do stupid things and I understand if you never wanna see him again but let me just ask one question."

"What?"

"Did you love him?" She asks me.

"Yeah. I did." I say quietly.

"Well do you still love him?"

"I- yeah. I think I do at least."

"Well, then. That's all I need to know sweetie. Keep me posted on this situation though. Remember,"

"If I ever need someone to talk to I can come to you." I finish for her and she smiles.

"That's my girl." She says, hugging me tight and looking back at the tv.

------------

I walk into the garage, looking for Julie but instead I find Luke.

I promptly turn around and am about to walk out when I hear him say, "y/n?"

He's been crying. I can tell. I hate it when he cries, when he's in pain.

And even though it breaks me I continue walking. I walk and walk and walk.

Until I don't even know where I am anymore.

I look around and see people all over the street. Above me is the Orpheum sign.

I take a deep breath and continue walking, weaving through the streets and ignoring all people.

After a while I end right back at home.
