24- X-rays and fakes

Sasame paced around in the big living room, biting harshly on her lower lip as she did so. Her phone was in one hand and her other hand was tapping away anxiously on her lap. The images displayed on the phone's screen showed the pictures of Neji's meeting with Tenten at the coffee shop.

What  were they doing together? They had broken up! Why did they look relatively happy?! What was going on?! She could not let this continue. All her hard work just to make Neji hers could not be in vain. She had to make a plan. She had to eliminate the nuisance called Tenten immediately.

Neji and Tenten could not say that things were back to normal between them but it was better than the past week. They were not back together but they weren't that broken up either. Like the previous sentence implied, their relationship was...complicated for lack of better words.

"So, what are you planning?" Tenten asked Neji. Her head was on his lap and his hands were braiding her hair. A week had passed since their meeting at the coffee shop. It had been hectic, to say the least. Their meeting had roused series of questions and theories from the public.

Their fans were the most chaotic of all. After all, what business had light with darkness (according to them)? Some fans loved the consensus and started pairing them together. The ship name, NejiTen, had been a hot topic ever since. Some fans preferred that they stayed separate and others were indifferent, just curious.

Neji and Tenten had no peace outside. Some crazy reporters and fans even camped at the gate of their houses for juice. Everything calmed relatively as the days passed because of an explanation that Neji gave on an interview. He explained that they met up to settle the misunderstandings between them. It was not a lie, just a vague truth.

Anyway, it was great to have a semblance of peace in their lives again.

"You can't just abandon the baby because you don't like its mother." Tenten added. It was distasteful to say but it was truth. Even if Neji didn't want the baby's mother, he shouldn't abandon the child.

"I know." Neji muttered. "Calling off the engagement doesn't mean I'm leaving her be with my child." He sighed. "That's where the problem is though. I can't break the engagement." Because she threatened to post the pictures online if I did.

Sasame could be as gentle as Hinata was on a normal day but underneath that façade, she was a shrewd and cunning fox.

"Let's run away together." Tenten joked. "We could go far, far away, as far as the land of Iron to where they'd never find us! We could explore the world." She outstretched her arms wide to describe the world. Her eyes were shining with excitement and amusement but Neji took her words serious.

"Would you travel with me?" The lavender eyed man asked wistfully.

"What?" Tenten sat up to look him in the eye. Neji suddenly became bashful, which manifested as a small pink flush on his cheeks.

"I meant– would you...let's run away together." He breathed. Tenten gaped openly at the impossibly handsome man in front of her.

"You actually took that seriously?! But what about Sesame seed's baby? And Hiashi? And the company?" She questioned.

"That's the whole point of running away Tenten. And I won't let the child be a bastard. I'll be around for them when they're born but for now, I don't think my uncle or the Fuumas would get it if I don't show them how serious I am with you."
